A vehicle door opening and closing operation device includes a cover swing mechanism and a door opening and closing operation portion to be operated by a user. The cover swing mechanism has a cover member that moves between a closed position where an operation opening portion is closed and an open position where the operation opening portion is opened. The cover swing mechanism includes a swing link unit and a swing unit. The swing link unit is swingable and movably supports the cover member between the closed position and the opening position. The swing unit includes a cam member. The swing unit presses an engagement portion of the link unit by a protruding portion provided on the cam member and swings the link unit to move the cover member. At least a part of the engagement portion overlaps the cam member in a front view.

The invention further relates to a plastics component for the locking device.
