Vehicle interior panel with fall away door
A vehicle interior assembly includes a frame and a fall away door that closes off an opening in the frame when in a closed position. The door moves between the closed position and an open position via sequential vertical and horizontal movements. From the closed position, the door first drops vertically to a dropped position. A final portion of this vertical movement may be damped movement. From the dropped position, the door moves horizontally to the open position, at which the door is concealed from view from the exterior of the assembly. Various guides can be provided to define the movement path of the door. Various types of non-visible sensors can be used to detect a user's intention to open and close the door.

INERTIAL LATCH
An inertial latch for a motor vehicle armrest is rotatably connected to a a bracket mounted to a support structure; an armrest interfacing component is disposed in an arcuate slot in the bracket, the slot extending from a first to a second end; a primary pawl rotatable from a first to a second position and limiting motion of the interfacing component in the slot; a secondary pawl rotatable from a third position to a fourth position and limiting motion of the primary pawl; a stop limits motion of the secondary pawl. The armrest articulates from a closed to an open position, the interfacing component moves through the entire slot when the primary pawl is in the first position, the interfacing component is held within a portion less than the entire slot when the primary pawl is in the second position, and the interfacing component is releasable from the portion.
Vehicle interior component
A component for a vehicle interior is disclosed. The component may comprise a base comprising a bin, a cover configured to cover the bin, an interface for the cover and a mechanism configured to retain the cover to the base. The mechanism may comprise at least one pin configured to rotate in response to translation at the interface to release the cover from the base. The interface may comprise a button configured to move in the opening direction from a forward position to a rearward position to unlock the cover from the base. The cover may be configured to move in the opening direction as the button moves from the forward position toward the rearward position. The mechanism may comprise a link to rotate in response to translation of the button to rotate the pin to unlock the cover from the base.

Vehicle interior component
A component for a vehicle interior may comprise a base comprising a bin, a cover configured to move in an opening direction to uncover the bin and a closing direction to cover the bin, and a mechanism to retain the cover to the base. The mechanism may comprise a cam to retain the cover to the base. The cam may rotate to latch the cover to the base and unlatch the cover from the base. The mechanism may comprise an interface to rotate from a raised position to a depressed position to release the cover from the base. The cover may move in the opening direction as the interface rotates from the raised toward the depressed position. The mechanism may comprise a pin. The interface may disengage from the pin to unlatch the cover from the base. The interface may slide against the pin.

VEHICLE INTERIOR COMPONENT
A vehicle interior component is disclosed. The component may comprise a base and a door/cover configured to move from a latched position to cover a bin to an open position to uncover the bin through an unlatched position; and a blocking mechanism configured to actuate a keeper/blocker to move in response to a force from a retracted position to an extended position to prevent the door/cover from moving toward the open position. The mechanism may comprise a blocker/keeper to move from a default/retracted position to a blocking/deployed position to prevent the door/cover from moving to the open position (e.g. in response to the external force). The mechanism may comprise an arm configured to rotate in response to the external force against a retaining spring to engage the blocker/keeper. The component may comprise a console; the cover may comprise a door.
DOUBLE-DOORED LID APPARATUS
A double-doored lid apparatus includes: a box body; first and second doors; an opening/closing mechanism that opens and closes the first and second doors in conjunction with each other; a locking mechanism that locks the first and second doors in their closed states; an urging member that urges the first and second doors in an opening direction while the doors are locked by the locking mechanism; and a support member that transmits the urging force from the urging member to the first and second doors. The support member includes: a first support portion that supports one end portion of the urging member; and second and third support portions that start to come into contact with the first and second doors, respectively, before the doors reach a predetermined locking position during closing motions thereof, and that support the first and second doors when the doors are locked by the locking mechanism.
