SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SECURING AN OBJECT IN A VEHICLE
Systems and methods for securing an object in a vehicle are provided. One embodiment of a method includes receiving data related to a biometric identifier of a user, receiving data related to a physiological state of the user, and determining whether the data associated with the physiological state of the user corresponds to an undesired physiological state. In response to receiving a correct biometric identifier and determining that the physiological state of the user does not correspond to the undesired physiological state, some embodiments may be configured to grant access to a storage area of a biometric lockbox. Similarly, in response to at least one of the following: not receiving the correct biometric identifier or determining that the physiological state of the user corresponds to the undesired physiological state of the user, some embodiments may be configured to deny access to the storage area of the biometric lockbox.
Door for vehicle console
A door for a vehicle console includes first and second cover portions that each have an outer, exposed finished surface. The second cover portion is slidable between closed and open cover positions in which the second cover portion is substantially flush with the first cover portion in the closed cover position and is at least partially lapping the first cover portion in the open cover position. A bi-directional latch is actuatable in first and second opposed directions. Actuation in the first direction locks together the first and second cover portions in either closed or open positions and unlocks the door such that the first and second cover portions are rotatable in unison. Actuation in a second direction releases the first and second cover portions from one another such that the second cover portion is slidable from the closed cover position to the open cover position.

VEHICLE INTERIOR COMPONENT
A vehicle interior component is disclosed. The component may comprise a base, a cover moveable between closed and open positions and a handle. The handle may be retracted when the cover is closed and extended when the cover is open. The handle may move toward the retracted position when the cover moves from the open position to the closed position. The component may comprise a mechanism to engage the base to move the handle. The mechanism may comprise a spring to bias or move the handle. The component may comprise a spring to move the cover from the closed to the open position. The component may comprise at least one of a console, a floor console, a center console, a storage compartment, an arm rest. The cover may comprise at least one of a door, a tambour door, a shade, a blind, a roller blind.

Integrated latch/bumper combination
A latch assembly for a vehicle bin includes a latch housing having an integrated bumper. The latch housing defines a latch opening and a base adapted to carry the bumper. The bumper includes a load edge and is disposed on the base to provide a constant load around the latch opening. The load edge may define one of a planar load edge, a serrated load edge, and a scalloped load edge.

Illuminated latch
A system for a replenishment door of a vehicle includes a body having a port and defining a latch aperture, a door pivotably attached to the body with a hinge, a system controller, and a latch assembly. The door is pivotable between a closed position and an open position. The latch assembly is configured for securing the door to the housing in the closed position. Further, the latch assembly includes a housing and a light source disposed within the housing, the light source being configured to project light through the housing, and the system controller being configured to control an intensity of the light source.

Storage box for a vehicle
A storage box includes a door that is coupled to the base. A pivot pin is coupled to the door and is operable between an engaged position, wherein the pivot pin is rotatably engaged with the base, and a disengaged position. The pivot pin is configured to move door-inboard due to contact with the base as the pivot pin moves from the disengaged position to the engaged position.
