A closing device for a storage compartment, in particular of a motor vehicle, having a closing element, slidable on a frame, for releasing or closing a frame opening of the frame, and a locking device for locking the closing element in at least one sliding position, wherein the locking device has at least one actuating handle, which is disposed on the closing element and projects from the closing element for gripping, and is coupled to the locking device for locking and releasing the locking. It is provided that the actuating handle is disposed displaceable on the closing element only in one plane, in particular parallel to the frame. The invention further relates to a storage compartment for a motor vehicle with such a closing device.

The lock bar member includes a lock portion, a first bar portion extending in a sliding direction of the lock bar member, and a second bar portion extending in a direction intersecting the sliding direction and connecting the first bar portion and the lock portion. A first stepped portion is formed on the first bar portion, and a second stepped portion is formed on the second bar portion. Each of the facing surfaces is provided with step portions each of which faces the first stepped portion and the second stepped portion respectively in the direction intersecting the sliding direction at positions sandwiched between the first stepped portion and the second stepped portion.

A container is disclosed that has a housing and a lid. The lid has a planar portion and a latch that is freely movable parallel to the planar portion of the lid. The latch has a retention feature and a first reference surface that is perpendicular to the planar portion of the lid. There is a latch mechanism coupled to the housing that has an engagement element configured to engage the retention feature of the latch and a first alignment feature having a first alignment surface. The first alignment feature is configured to laterally displace the latch in a first direction such that the first reference surface aligns with the first alignment surface when the lid is brought together with the housing with the fastener laterally displaced away from the engagement element in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction.

A door hinge assembly for securing access to a security compartment is disclosed in which the door is received within a recess of a door frame that is in turn fixed to a security compartment. The door rotates between closed and open positions by rotating about a pivot connection that is formed between the door and the door frame by a high security gooseneck. The gooseneck is fixed to the door and has a gooseneck channel formed of first and second wall portions and a lower portion connecting the two wall portions. One of the wall portions is connected to a pivot point beneath the door frame and the other to the connection portion connected to the door.
