Surface-mountable locking device

A surface-mountable locking system is designed to secure an item to a surface via one or more mechanical engagements that are protected from tampering by encompassing the engagements point(s) within cavity-defining surfaces. In one example the mechanical engagement is effected by placing a pin in a box and securing the pin in the box using a bolt and the tampering protection is effected by the surfaces that define the box. In another example, the mechanical engagement is effected by placing a surface-attached anchor within a cavity and securing the anchor relative to the cavity using a bolt and the tampering protection is effected by the surfaces that define the cavity. The securing bolt may be, for example, the bolt of locking mechanism, a threaded bolt to engage a receptacle having complementary threads, or a smooth bolt to engage a receptacle having a shape complementary to that of the bolt.

POSITION INDICATOR FOR BALL LOCK

A ball lock includes a body having a shaft with at least one retention feature disposed at a distal portion of the shaft. The body of the ball lock may also define a central chamber and an access slot open to the central chamber. The ball lock may include a spindle disposed within the central chamber of the body. The spindle may be in either a locked position or an unlocked position. The ball lock may further include an indicator coupled to the spindle and viewable to a user via the access slot, wherein the indicator is configured to indicate to the user whether the spindle is in the locked position or the unlocked position.

Adjustable Hatch Cover Locks

A hatch lock cover includes inner and outer flanges, with a keeper and a handle positioned between the flanges. The handle is rotatable with respect to the flanges to move a batten bar contacting surface into and out of engagement with a batten bar or a hatch cover tab of a hatch cover. A downwardly extending portion of an arm of the keeper may define an aperture and/or include a projection for securing an adjustment plate or extension piece to the arm to provide an alternative batten bar contacting surface. Alternatively, a mounting bracket may be provided to secure the hatch cover lock to a railcar, with the mounting bracket accommodating the hatch cover lock in different positions having different elevations. Such configurations allow the hatch cover lock to be adjusted for use with a batten bar or hatch cover tab having a gasket that has become worn out.

LOCK DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Lock devices, systems, and methods including an internal mechanism to permit backdriven operation and lost motion operation. In one form, the lock includes an assembly of parts with locating features that assist in those parts being assembled with other parts of the assembly in a single, relative orientation. Further, lost motion may be utilized to accommodate manual displacement of one or more components that can also be displaceable, in some embodiments, via operation of a motor. The lock can also include an internal power source capable of driving electronics used to determine handedness of a door.

Integrated fenestration status monitoring system and methods for the same

A fenestration assembly includes a fenestration frame and at least one panel movable between open and closed positions. A locking mechanism is coupled with the at least one panel and includes at least one latch and at least one latch fastener. The panel includes a secure configuration with the panel in the closed position and the latch coupled with the latch fastener. In the unsecure configuration one or more of the panel is in the open position or the latch is decoupled from the latch fastener. A status monitoring assembly monitors the secure and unsecure configurations and includes a sensor operator coupled with the latch, and a sensor coupled with one of the fenestration frame or the panel. In the secure configuration, the status monitoring assembly detects the sensor operator with the sensor if the panel is in the closed position and the latch is coupled with the latch fastener.
