Doors containing core inserts, and method of making the same

A method of making a door involves providing a first door facing including a first raised region and a first panel recessed from the first raised region by a first dimension, and securing a first core insert having a thickness equal to the first dimension to the first raised region. A second door facing including a second raised region and a second panel recessed from the second raised region by a second dimension is provided. A second core insert having a thickness equal to the second dimension is secured to the second raised region. A central core component is secured to the first panel and the first core insert after the first core insert has been secured to the first raised region. The second panel and the second core insert are secured to the central core component after the second core insert has been secured to the second raised region.

An overhead garage door trim system includes a plurality of trim pieces and at least one panel. Each trim piece has a trim piece inner surface and at least one trim piece undercut formed in the trim piece inner surface along a trim piece inner edge, the trim pieces configured to be installed spaced-apart along at least one section of the overhead garage door with respective trim piece inner edges opposed. And the at least one panel is configured to be positioned on the at least one section of the overhead garage door and secured thereon by the plurality of trim pieces, each panel having edges configured to be secured within opposite trim piece undercuts of spaced-apart trim pieces. In use the at least one panel is clamped and retained on the overhead garage door so as to float within the respective trim piece undercuts.

The contoured corner segments have a first maximum thickness. The contoured elongated segments have a second maximum thickness that is greater than the first maximum thickness. DOORS AND METHODS FOR REDUCING TELEGRAPHING THEREFOR

This invention relates to doors having internal blocking components that reduce or eliminate telegraphing of the outer surface of the door facings. In particular, the invention relates to steel-edge steel doors that have internal solid wood blocks that have one or more integral cantilever beams formed into the blocks to interact with the adjoined oppositely arranged door facings in order to eliminate visually apparent door telegraphing. The blocks are modified to contain notches formed therein to form the cantilever beams.

Alternatively or additionally, the first material may be susceptible to wear and tear and the sleeve may be resilient and replaceable.

The secondary door includes a secondary frame, at least one door slab, and at least one hinge coupling the at least one door slab to the secondary frame. A least one hole is formed in the secondary door so that the post element of the anchor mechanism can extend through the at least one hole and the anchor can be attached to the post element to secure the secondary door to the primary frame. The anchor also can be attached to the post when the secondary door is not secured to the primary frame.

The core includes a corrugated medium that is fluted with fluting running back and forth in the thickness direction between the first skin and the second skin as the corrugated medium spans between the first and second skins. The door also includes a compressed section where at least one of the first skin and the second skin is compressed into the core toward the other of the first skin and the second skin in the thickness direction.
