A shade adapted for covering a classroom viewing window and assisting with compliance with emergency protocol during an emergency is disclosed. The shade may include a plurality folds connected to each other by a plurality of hinges configured to cover a classroom viewing window. Emergency related information and status indicators may be revealed upon the unfolding of the shade to assist teachers, school officials, police, and others to comply with established school emergency protocol. The shade further fulfills the requirement that the classroom viewing window be covered during an emergency lockdown. The shade may function as a standard “Exit” sign during non-emergency time.

A bullet-resistant garage door is formed with multiple garage door panels spaced vertically and pivotable relative to one another to permit conventional opening of the garage door. Each garage door panel is formed with an interior ballistic panel, an exterior ballistic panel and an insulation panel positioned between the interior and exterior ballistic panels. A ballistic shield is attached to the exterior ballistic panel to overlap the gap between the exterior ballistic panels of adjacent garage door panels. The exterior ballistic panel is operable to allow the penetration of a bullet of a given caliber while dissipating the energy of the bullet so that the bullet will not penetrate the interior ballistic panel and become trapped in the insulation panel. Sheeting and trim members can be attached to the exterior ballistic panel and the shield to provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance for the garage door panels while maintaining bullet-resistant characteristics.

Blast, ballistic, and entry resistant compression frame systems include a plurality of bolts, an exterior frame assembly having a peripheral flange and a plurality of sleeves that receive the bolts, an interior frame assembly having a peripheral flange and a plurality of apertures that receive the bolts therethrough, an exterior gasket between the peripheral flange of the exterior frame assembly and an exterior surface of the wall of the building, and an interior gasket between the peripheral flange of the interior frame assembly and an interior surface of the wall of the building. The exterior frame assembly peripheral flange and the interior frame assembly peripheral flange apply a compression force to the wall when the bolts are torque tightened into the threaded sleeves. A customizable glass wall system is disclosed. The system comprises at least two glazed, transparent panes mounted to a frame, creating an internal space less than approximately five inches thick. At least one upper roller is mounted to an upper portion of the frame, preferably on a removable headboard, and at least one lower roller is mounted to a lower portion of the frame, preferably to a removable tailboard. At least one partitioned film is attached to the upper and lower rollers. The partitioned film has partitions with varied properties and functions, ranging from thermal insulation to decoration, which can be selectively positioned behind the transparent panes by rotating the partitioned film by means of the rollers until a selected partition of film is displayed. The system can be automated based on time, weather, amount of sunlight, or user preference, and it may include window coverings or solar cells.

A system and method for retrofitting installed thermal windows to provide anti-ballistic properties to the windows by using a portable system for filling gaps in the windows with an anti-ballistic material that may or may not be cured. Also provided is an optional capability to add controllable tinting capability to these retrofitted windows.

A stand-alone, single-layer, auxiliary ballistic security barrier system configured to be installed over existing doors. The ballistic security barrier system provides protection against an active shooter with weapons, including handguns and high-powered rifles. The ballistic security barrier system includes a frame fixed to a wall with an anchor system and having structural tubing, mounting angle, and a locking system located inside the structural tubing. Further, the system includes a barrier pivotably attached to the frame and made out of material suitable to withstand impact from a high velocity rifle. The barrier is held in a first stowed position by a release apparatus, and in a second closed position by a lock.

A window safety plate includes a window-mounted frame, a bullet resistant plate, and a locking mechanism. The window mounted frame includes an upper track, a lower track, a first stopper, and a second stopper. The upper track and the lower track are terminally connected to the first stopper. The upper track and the lower track are terminally connected to the second stopper, opposite of the first stopper. The bullet resistant plate is slidably engaged within the upper track, the lower track, the first stopper, and the second stopper so that a window section of a door can be concealed from inside of a room. The locking mechanism is integrated in between the window-mounted frame and the bullet resistant plate thus enabling an intruder to slide back the bullet resistant plate from outside of the room.
