MAGNETICALLY MOUNTABLE SEAL
20170260800 · 2017-09-14 · ·

Disclosed is a magnetically mountable seal, and method of use thereof. The seal is capable of sealing a gap between a door, and either its frame or a second door. The magnetically mountable seal comprises a magnetic portion, magnetically attached to a surface; and a seal portion secured to the magnetic portion. The method of use comprises the steps of: (a) magnetically attaching the magnetic portion to one of the first door, its frame, and the second door; and (b) securing the sealing portion so that the sealing portion covers the gap when the first door is in a closed position and does not interfere with the functionality of the first door when the first door is in an open position. Improved energy efficiency around the gap reduces energy consumption. The sealing portion can be a thermal barrier, acoustic barrier, hermetic, odor barrier, contagion barrier, and fire barrier.

Vehicle door assemblies, and methods of use and manufacture thereof

Some embodiments are directed to a door lining assembly for use with a vehicle that defines a vehicle exterior and a vehicle passenger compartment. The door lining assembly can include a base assembly including an outboard base that defines a substantially planar upper surface that extends obliquely relative to a transverse direction of the vehicle so as to face upwardly toward the vehicle exterior. The base assembly can also include an inboard base that defines a substantially planar upper surface that extends obliquely relative to the upper surface of the outboard base downward toward the vehicle passenger compartment. The outboard and inboard bases can be joined together to form a peak that is the vertically highest portion of the base assembly. A unitary topcoat can cover the upper surfaces of the outboard and inboard bases.

Systems and methods for sealing a compartment

The present disclosure provides a system for sealing a compartment. The system includes a door with a seal positioned on a bottom surface of the door. The system also includes one or more hinges coupled to the door. The door rotates from a closed position to an open position via the one or more hinges. A height of the door with respect to a floor surface increases in response to a rotation of the door from the closed position to the open position due to a helical slope of both a first cam surface of the one or more hinges and a second cam surface of the one or more hinges. The seal transitions from a compressed state to a relaxed state in response to the rotation of the door from the closed position to the open position.

Clipless hood seal

A seal includes a base portion, a first retaining member extending from the base portion, and a second retaining member extending from the base portion. Each of the first and second retaining members is structured to be resiliently deflectable with respect to the base portion. A portion of the first retaining member extends opposite the base portion so as to define a first cavity therebetween. A portion of the second retaining member extends opposite the base portion so as to define a second cavity therebetween. The first cavity has an open side opening in a first direction toward the second cavity, and the second cavity has an open side opening in a second direction toward the first cavity.

ADA COMPLIANT SHIELDED DOOR
