Gate-Operated Kinetic Energy Switches
20200080375 · 2020-03-12 ·

A gate is pivotally mounted on an upstanding post located adjacent a juncture of intersecting travel paths. To prevent collisions of persons and/or vehicles moving along the intersecting travel paths at the travel path juncture, a kinetic energy harvesting switch is carried by the upstanding post and has a spring-projected push button or plunger-type operator that is depressed relative to a housing of the switch when the gate begins to open to admit a person and/or a vehicle to the travel path juncture. Energy harvested by the switch is utilized to transmit a radio frequency signal that can be received by a device that displays a visual warning and/or emits an audible warning, advising that collision avoidance measures are likely to be needed to prevent a collision at the travel path juncture.

Gate hinge with direct attachment to a support post
10584531 · 2020-03-10 ·

A fence system with a gate assembly mounted in a gap between first and second fence portions of the fence system. The gate assembly can be mounted directly to a post of the first or second fence portions without being mounted to pickets or backer rails of the fence portions. A hinge may be used to mount the gate assembly, where the hinge has a clamp fixed to a support which is fixed to a first member of the hinge. A second member of the hinge can be mounted to the gate assembly with the first and second members being rotatably fixed together, thereby allowing rotation of the gate assembly between open, closed, and various other positions.

Entertainment and gating assembly

An entertainment and gating assembly for sequestering and entertaining a child includes a gate that is configured to selectively couple to opposing elements of a structure that define an opening, such as jambs of a door, to selectively retain a child within a portion of the structure. At least one entertainment module is coupled to the gate. The at least one entertainment module is configured to entertain the child who is retained in the portion of the structure.

Apparatus having frame separate from gate

A two unit barrier or three unit barrier. The two unit barrier includes a first end frame portion and a second end frame portion as a first unit and a gate as a second unit. The three unit barrier includes a first end frame as a first unit, a second end frame as a second unit, and a gate as a third unit. In each of the barriers, the gate is swingably engaged and swingable over a lower connection arrangement. The lower connection arrangement may include one or more of a mortise and tenon connection, clamp connection, swinging connection, flush and hidden connection, and telescoping connection.

Retractable gate system

A gate system includes a first fixed support structure having a plurality of fixed rails defining respective passageways and a gate that moves relative to the fixed support structure between an open position and a closed position. The gate includes a plurality of gate rails that slide within the respective passageways as the gate moves between the open position and the closed position. Furthermore, the gate includes one or more compressible sheets coupled to the plurality of gate rails, and the one or more compressible sheets are configured to move from a compressed position to an expanded position as the gate moves from the open position to the closed position.

Safety gate closure preventer

The safety systems enhance the safety of confined spaces which can present a danger to human occupants who may become entrapped within the confined space during a dangerous condition. The safety systems are particularly useful with confined spaces having access openings and a door or other movable barrier for the access opening. The safety systems having movable safety gates proximate the access openings. The disclosed safety gates are movable from a closed position where the safety gate forms a physical barrier which inhibits human entry into the confined space to a safety position where the safety gate prevents the door from closing and entrapping a person within the confined space.

Double Door Gate Apparatus
20240076938 · 2024-03-07 ·

A double door gate apparatus having a frame, a main gate and a secondary gate, where the apparatus includes the unique features of a) a latch apparatus between uppermost framework members of the main gate and secondary gate, b) the latch apparatus being weighted to return to a normally closed position, c) each of the main gate and secondary gates having an inverted U-shaped piece engaging the bottommost horizontal member such that each of the main and secondary gates need to be lifted prior to being opened and prior to being closed, and d) a pair of hand wheels on a common shaft that work together to space the double door gate apparatus a desired distance from a vertical surface such as a wall.

HINGED SAFETY GATE

Hinged safety gates and methods for controlling access to an elevated work surface are disclosed. The hinged safety gate can include a gate frame and a retainer assembly. The gate frame can have a distal upright member, an upper cross-arm, and a lower cross-arm. The upper cross-arm can have an upper cross-arm height (or vertical dimension), and the lower cross-arm can have a lower cross-arm height. The hinged safety gate can have a retainer assembly that is configured to be attached to a proximal end of the gate frame and to hingedly couple the gate frame to a stationary vertical surface, permitting the gate frame to swing between an open and a closed position. Some embodiments satisfy various spatial safety requirements with only two cross-arms. Some embodiments are horizontally adjustable in two different manners to accommodate a range of access area widths.

Modular guardrail system
11920354 · 2024-03-05 · ·

A modular guardrail system relates to a set of interconnected beams that each fit into pairs of detachable bases, thus allowing for the creation, adjustment, and removal of a variety of configurations of temporary fence-style barriers. Each guardrail section may include two vertical posts, one on each end of each guardrail section, connected by a set of horizontal beams and, in some cases, a horizontal toeplate. Adjacent guardrail sections share a common base, thus allowing for the chain assembly of an extended barrier. The base that connects to the guardrail sections may include several vertically-oriented brackets that may slide into the different guardrail posts. The placement of the vertical brackets upon the base is selected so that each of the attached guardrail sections can be arranged independently of one another in any direction. The vertical brackets may be rotatably attached, thereby allowing for more flexible arrangements of the guardrail sections.

Telescoping rail assembly

A telescoping rail assembly for a roof hatch includes a bracket configured to couple to the roof hatch, where the roof hatch is configured to provide access to a roof of a building, a post coupled to the bracket and configured to extend from the roof hatch and outward from the roof, and a telescoping rail having a first portion and a second portion, where the first portion and the second portion are slidably adjustable with respect to one another, and where the telescoping rail is disposed along a portion of a perimeter of the roof hatch to enable the telescoping rail assembly to enclose an area that includes the roof hatch.
