A system for securing an upright ladder provides a robust and reliable mechanism for securing the ladder to a vertical object such as a pole or tree. The system comprises: a pole bracket positioned adjacent a top distal end of the ladder between a first rail and a second rail of the ladder; an upper anchor mechanism positioned on or adjacent the first rail; an upper ratchet cleat mechanism positioned on or adjacent the second rail; and an eyelet/guider positioned adjacent the upper ratchet cleat mechanism for guiding, in use, a rope into the upper ratchet cleat mechanism; wherein the upper anchor mechanism and the upper ratchet cleat mechanism are positioned at approximately a same longitudinal distance from the top distal end of the ladder.

An at height safety system and method of use thereof An at height safety system is provided including detection apparatus for location at at least one required position or in at least one pre-determined area that is to be monitored in use. Identification means are provided on or associated with an item that is to be monitored in use. The detection apparatus includes first detection means arranged for detecting the presence of a person in use and at least second detection means arranged for detecting the identification means in use. Processing means are provided for processing one or more signals and/or data received from the first and/or at least second detection means.

A fall-arrest system for a person climbing a ladder (7) affixed to or supported by a structure, comprises: an elongate track securable to the ladder (7) so as to lie adjacent to the intended route of a person climbing or descending the ladder; a sliding device (13) which in use is coupled to the elongate track and configured to be freely displaceable therealong when the person is climbing the ladder; and a safety line (12) extending from the sliding device (13) for attachment to a harness attachment point of a safety harness worn by the person climbing or descending the ladder, the sliding device (13) incorporating a locking mechanism configured to allow the sliding device (13) to freely slide along the elongate track during normal movement of the person connected thereto by the safety line and to automatically lock the sliding device (13) to the elongate track in the event of the person falling from said ladder. The fall-arrest system is characterised in that the elongate track comprises a flexible belt (8) configured to depend from an upper end of the ladder.

A fall arrest device can include a fall arrest base including a torsion biasing element defining an axis; and a fall arrest arm rotatably secured to the torsion biasing element of the fall arrest base, the fall arrest arm biased towards an unloaded position of the fall arrest arm by the torsion biasing element and configured to rotate about the axis of the torsion biasing element and against the bias of the torsion biasing element when the fall arrest arm is loaded towards a loaded position.

A fall arrest system includes a ladder configured to provide access to an elevated structure and a fall arrest device configured to be secured to the elevated structure, the fall arrest device including an upper anchor, the upper anchor including a first end configured to be secured to the elevated structure and a second end distal from the first end.

The aspects herein relate to the field of fall prevention systems, and more specifically to fall arrest systems for storage bins and more particularly to grain bins or silos. In one aspect, a fall prevention system for a ladder may have an anchor plate coupled to a roof. In another aspect, the fall prevention system for the ladder may have an anchor bar coupled to at least a portion of the ladder. A rope is coupled at one end to the anchor plate or bar and at the other end to at least one rung of the ladder using a fastener. A rope grab is slidably coupled to the rope between the anchor plate or bar and the fastener.

A fall arrest device can include a fall arrest base including a torsion biasing element defining an axis; and a fall arrest arm rotatably secured to the torsion biasing element of the fall arrest base, the fall arrest arm biased towards an unloaded position of the fall arrest arm by the torsion biasing element and configured to rotate about the axis of the torsion biasing element and against the bias of the torsion biasing element when the fall arrest arm is loaded towards a loaded position.

A safety accessory for stabilizing a user on a step ladder is provided. The safety accessory includes an elongate member having a shaft and at least one handle portion extending perpendicularly to the shaft and structured to be gripped by the user, the handle portion having a strap ring; a harness configured to removeably couple to the strap ring of the handle portion, the harness being structured to cradle and urge the user toward the center of gravity of the step ladder when the user stands on at least one of the plurality of steps of the step ladder; and a clamp configured to removeably attach to a selected location on the side rail of the step ladder, the clamp having a receptacle structured to slideably receive the shaft of the elongate member and a positioning structure configured to maintain the shaft of the elongate member into a selected one of a plurality of longitudinal positions with respect to the clamp. The safety accessory acts to stabilize the user when he/she grips the handle portion of the elongate member.

A ladder dock can include a planar mounting panel, the mounting panel configured to contact and be secured to a surface of an elevated structure; and a planar connecting panel, the connecting panel extending from the mounting panel and angled with respect to the mounting panel, the connecting panel angled upward with respect to the mounting panel by a bend angle, an angle between the mounting panel and the connecting panel being less than 180 degrees, the connecting panel defining first and second ears, each of the first and second ears extending in a direction away from the mounting panel, each of the first and second ears being coplanar with the connecting panel, the first and second ears defining a ladder notch therebetween, the ladder notch sized to receive and fix a position of a ladder relative to the ladder dock, the ladder dock being formed from a single blank.

A fall protection system having a top bracket assembly that is mountable to a top portion of the ladder, a spaced bottom bracket assembly that is mountable to a bottom portion of the ladder, and a cable extending therebetween portions of the top bracket assembly and the bottom bracket assembly substantially parallel to a plane bisecting the vertical ladder at a desired distance from the plane.
