CLIMB ASSIST VELOCITY CONTROL
20190017325 · 2019-01-17 ·

A climb assist system dynamically adjusts a rate and a level of load assist that the system provides to a climber during traverse of a structure. The system includes a load sensor system configured to detect the state of the climber, such as the load applied by the climber to an assist rope, to provide an upward support force on the climber to compensate the climber's weight. Additionally, the system includes a sender configured to transmit data to a receiver of the system. The system includes a controller configured to interpret the received data and thereafter provide control through a controlled motor and drive system to provide load assist to the climber. A safety function of the system is configured to receive data indicative of a rate of descent of the climber, and slow or stop the descent if one or more conditions are met.

FALL PROTECTION DEVICE

A fall protection device includes a frame, a rotation unit, a safety belt, and a braking unit. The rotation unit is rotatably disposed in the frame; the safety belt is wound up on the rotation unit, and adapted to be pulled to drive a rotation of the rotation unit. The braking unit includes a braking plate, a braking block, and a stopper. The braking plate is connected to the rotation unit, rotates with the rotation unit coaxially. The braking block is pivotally connected to the braking plate, and includes a stopping part. The stopping part of the braking block can be spun out by a centrifugal force produced by a rotation of the braking plate, and abuts against the stopper to limit the rotation of the rotation unit. The braking block includes an abutted part. The stopper is disposed in a movement path of the abutted part.

Storage tray for a ladder and ladder with this storage tray

The described apparatus relates to a storage tray for a ladder, in particular a runged stepladder, wherein the storage tray has at least one compartment into which objects can be placed, and has a first receiver for a first element of a buckle closure, which can be attached on the storage tray.

Securing device

A fall arrest device for securing a climber to a cable in a manner that prevents the climber from falling. The device can run along an elongate securing cable as the climber ascends and descends during use. The device has a base body having a guide element and a receiving body having longitudinal axis designed to receive the cable therebetween, a housing fastened movably on the base body, and a securing element having a first securing bolt. The securing element is fastened rotatably on the base body and the housing in order to clamp the cable against the receiving body to arrest the climber during a fall.

Integrated climb assist and fall arrest system and methods to assist users climbing ladders and vertical paths are disclosed. The integrated systems and comprise a controller connected to a user's harness, a static fall arrest cable, and a movable climb assist belt. The connection of the fall arrest components and the climb assist components may include physical connection, electronic connection, communication, or any combination thereof. The climb assist belt can be driven by a motor to provide an upwards climb assistance force to a user along a vertical path. The motor can be dynamically adjusted to continuously provide a level of climb assistance. The integrated controller is also configured to mechanically detect downwards movement and engage an overspeed braking mechanism when a threshold velocity or acceleration is detected.

A ladder coupling assembly includes a pole brace strap formed of flexible webbing and including a rope guide ring structured to guide a rope lifeline, and a buckle structured to selectively attach to a corresponding buckle attached to the rope lifeline, the rope guide ring and buckle disposed proximate a central portion of the pole brace strap, and a rung buckle strap coupled to a central portion of the pole brace strap and formed of flexible webbing and structured to wrap around a first rung or a rail of a ladder proximate an upper portion of the ladder and including rung buckles structured to selectively attach to each other to secure the rung buckle strap in a position wrapped around the first rung or rail of the ladder.

Ladders including rope and pulley system and fall protection device

A ladder is provided which may include a positioning system, a fall arrest system, or both. In one embodiment, a rope and pulley system is provided wherein a first end of the rope is coupled to a base section of the ladder, a second end of the rope is coupled with a fly section of the ladder, and the rope extends between a plurality of pulleys. In one particular embodiment, the rope extends between five different pulleys, two being coupled with the fly section and three being coupled with the base section. At least one portion of the rope may extend along the side of the ladder (e.g., along the side of a rail of the fly section) while another section may extend up the front of the ladder between the rails and in front of the rungs. A fall arrest mechanism, or an ascender device, may be coupled with the section of rope extending up the ladder between the rails and in front of the rungs.

The cable grab safety device releasably attaches a workman's safety lanyard to a steel cable. A primary frame constructed of an elongated U-shaped bracket having a pair of spaced apart parallel side plates fits around the cable. A secondary frame also comprised of a pair of side plates fits within the U-shaped bracket after the cable is inserted. The secondary frame carries a brake in the form of a pulley mounted in an elongated slot movable toward or away from the cable. A lever attached to a worker's lanyard moves the pulley only in the inward direction to engage the cable in the event of a fall. A bent pin connected between the primary and secondary frames allows for limited pivotal and axial movement between them allowing the cable to be inserted into the U-shaped bracket. A separate locking pin secures the frame members together.
