Angled transmission line tension anchor for drill string components
An apparatus for retaining a transmission line within a drill string component includes a drill string component comprising a bore having an internal diameter. A slot is formed in the internal diameter to receive a transmission line. A first feature within the slot is configured to engage a corresponding second feature on the transmission line and thereby retain an end of the transmission line. The first feature comprises a first angled surface configured to contact and engage a corresponding second angled surface of the second feature. The first and second angled surfaces are oriented such to keep the transmission line retained within the slot when tension is placed on the transmission line. A corresponding system is also disclosed.
Mechanical Release Tool for Downhole Wireline
A wireline cutting tool. The wireline cutting tool comprises an elongated tubular body. A knife housing resides within the tubular body proximate an upper end, while a plunger resides within the tubular body proximate a lower end. An electric wireline passes through a bore of the knife housing and the plunger en route to an electrical connection sub. The electrical connection sub includes a pin that transmits signals from the electric wireline down to a downhole tool. The plunger is configured to slide up the bore of the lower sub in response to a first upward shear load applied by the wireline. This causes the plunger to act against knives residing within the knife housing. The knives are configured to travel up the bore of the upper sub in response to a second upward shear load applied by the plunger, pinching the wireline until severed. The second shear load is greater than the first shear load, creating a two-stage cutting tool.
SLICKLINE STUFFING BOX SHOCK ABSORBER TOOL
A slickline stuffing box shock absorber is disclosed. The slickline stuffing box shock absorber includes a first mechanical component adapted to connect to a slickline in a wellbore, an upper rod rigidly coupled to the first mechanical component, a second mechanical component adapted to connect to a rope socket of a tool string in the wellbore, a lower rod rigidly coupled to the second mechanical component, and a spring adapted to absorb shock energy from the tool string so as to prevent breakage of the slickline, where the upper rod is hollow and has a larger inner diameter than an outer diameter of the lower rod to allow sliding movement of the lower rod inside the upper rod, and where the upper rod and the lower rod are elastically coupled to each other by the spring.
OVER-THE-LINE MODULAR WEIGHT BAR
A system and apparatus for applying and removing weight from a tool string over an installed wireline, including a weight section having a longitudinal slot and a removable closure bar.
WET-MATE CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY WITH A DIELECTRIC GREASE RETAINER AND A STIFFENING MATERIAL IN A WELLBORE
Systems and methods are provided for a wet-mate connector assembly that can include a stiffening material and a dielectric grease retainer for preventing the extrusion of dielectric grease during a wet connect. The wet-mate connector assembly can include a male portion and a female portion that can receive the male portion to form an electrical connection with the male portion. The wet-mate connector assembly can also include a dielectric grease retainer that can be positioned near the male portion and the female portion for retaining dielectric grease extruded from a contact chamber when the female portion receives the male portion. The dielectric grease retainer can seal and insulate the contact chamber. The contact chamber can be defined by an outer diameter of the male portion and an inner diameter of the female portion. The male portion and the female portion can include a stiffening material and an insulating material.
Retention device for drill pipe transmission line
An apparatus for communicating a signal to or from a downhole tool includes a drill pipe configured to be rotated to drill a borehole, a tubular under axial tension and secured in the drill pipe, and a retention device secured to the tubular and configured to maintain the tubular under the axial tension. The retention device includes a portion extending from a body of the device in a direction that is non-inward-radial with respect to a longitudinal axis of the drill pipe. The apparatus further includes a transmission line disposed in the tubular and in an opening of the retention device and in communication with the downhole tool.
Well intervention apparatus and method
Well intervention apparatus is provided, the well intervention apparatus including a flexible hose to be lowered into a well, a stuffing seal which engages around the hose during lowering, at least one tool provided at a downhole end portion of the hose, and a plurality of individual tubes extending along an inside region of the hose and connecting to the at least one tool, each individual tube providing a fluid path for fluid communication between outside of the well and the at least one tool inside the well, and each individual tube being laterally supported in said inside region such that its lateral movement is restricted.
Electric Dipole Surface Antenna Configurations for Electromagnetic Wellbore Instrument Telemetry
An apparatus for detecting an electromagnetic signal originating in a wellbore includes an antenna comprising a pair of spaced apart electrodes in the ground spaced apart by a first distance having a midpoint at a second distance from the wellbore. The system includes at least one of a shielded electrical cable connecting each electrode to an input of a detector circuit, wherein the shielding is connected to produce common mode noise rejection; b) a second spaced apart electrode pair antenna spaced apart by one half the first distance and having a midpoint spaced √2/2 times the second distance from the surface of the wellbore, c) a second electrode pair antenna having a common midpoint with and being orthogonal to the at least one electric dipole antenna; and d) wherein the at least one electric dipole antenna is disposed in a second wellbore, the second wellbore having substantially no electrically conductive pipe therein.
Combined Hybrid Cable Housing And Splitter
An assembly can include a barrel housing having an opened end. The barrel housing can also include a barrel port for mounting a first compression fitting. A racetrack tray can be positioned within the barrel housing. The racetrack tray can receive an optical fiber and an electrical cable of a hybrid cable. A cap can be secured to the opened end of the barrel housing. The cap can include a cap port for receiving a second compression fitting. A primary seal can be positioned in a groove on one of the cap or the barrel housing. The primary seal can create a pressure seal between the cap and the barrel housing.
