A pipe connector that includes a body with opposed connection portions for connecting two pipes is provided. A protective portion extends along at least a portion of an inside surface intermediate the connection portions. The protective portion includes a protective material that is less abrasive to a rod string than the body. An inside diameter of the connector along at least a portion of the protective portion is equal to or narrower than an inside diameter at other portions of the connector for preferentially contacting the rod string with the protective material over other portions of the body. The connector may include an extended gripping portion for gripping with power tongs, and may further include a reinforced portion for increasing resistance of the pipe connector to deformation when threadedly connected with a tubing joint with the connector.

Method for connecting two individual elements of an underwater fluid-transport pipe subject to fatigue

A method of connecting together two unit elements (2, 4) of an undersea fluid transport pipe that is subjected to fatigue, by welding together two metallic or bi-metallic unit pipe elements that have been put into abutment via their respective free ends (2a, 4a), the welding being done by making three distinct weld beads (6, 8, 10), with a last weld bead (8) being deposited between two lateral first weld beads (6, 10), and being followed directly by controlled sanding of the weld beads in order to apply compression stresses on them.

End fitting for a composite pipe

An apparatus for terminating a composite pipe has a pipe having a liner layer surrounded by a composite layer and a pipe end. The liner layer has an extension piece which extends axially beyond the composite layer at the pipe end; a connector; an annular transition element located between the pipe end and the connector, the annular transition element having an exterior surface; and compression means.

SLEEVE VALVES, SHIFTING TOOLS AND METHODS FOR WELLBORE COMPLETION OPERATIONS THEREWITH
20220228452 · 2022-07-21 ·

A shift uphole-to-open sleeve assembly is provided for insertion along a tubular string for multi-stage, selectable wellbore treatment. The sleeve assemblies are very short in length, being too short for in-sleeve engagement, and instead have a downhole shoulder engageable for opening using dogs of a conventional shifting tool. Use of a common J-mechanism having four axial inappropriately places the sealing packer of a downhole tool above the sleeve ports. Multiple extra J-mechanism cycles are required to position the packer downhole thereof. Herein a modified downhole tool is disclosed including a biased repositioning sub to eliminate many of the extra tool cycles. In embodiments the short sleeve can replace casing collars.

Optimized visualization of loads and resistances for wellbore tubular design

System and methods for optimizing wellbore tubular design are provided. Design parameters for a wellbore tubular component are determined based on different types of axial loads expected during a downhole operation. The design parameters include load conditions at load points along the tubular component. An equivalent axial load is calculated for each load point, based on the corresponding load conditions. Design limits for the different types of axial loads are determined based on associated design parameters. A counter-load pressure is determined for at least one load point selected for each type of axial load, based on the corresponding equivalent axial load for each load point and a corresponding design limit for each type of axial load. At least one of the design limits is adjusted for the different types of axial loads, based on the counter-load pressure of the selected load point for each type of axial load.

Connectors for high temperature geothermal wells

The invention relates to connectors for casings used in high temperature wells. The connectors of the present invention may be used for connecting casing segments of geothermal or oil wells. The connector is simple in design and able to take up thermal expansion due to temperature change when high temperature media starts to flow through the casings and when the well needs to be cooled down for maintenance. The connector of the present invention uses a new sealing mechanism for preventing leaking during operation.
