Drill string stabilizer recovery improvement features

A stabilizer design for improving the likelihood of recovery of a drill string when obstructions are encountered in a wellbore is disclosed herein. The stabilizer includes a tubular body, a track, and a stabilizer blade. The track is disposed along the tubular body. The stabilizer blade is operatively coupled to the track and is configured to slide along the track from a first position to a second position.

Extendable and retractable stabilizer

A method of drilling a wellbore includes running a drilling assembly into the wellbore through a casing string, the drilling assembly having a tubular string, a stabilizer, and a drill bit; applying a force to an arm of the stabilizer, thereby causing the arm to retract; and removing the stabilizer and the drill bit from the wellbore.

SMART PORTABLE NON-ROTATING PROTECTOR COMPOSITE EMBEDDED DISTRIBUTED SENSING

An apparatus for measuring environmental parameters along a drill string includes a protector disposed radially around the drill string, and a sensor system with an optical fiber configured to collect data on environmentalditions within a wellbore through which the drill string is being inserted. Protector is made of a composite material having the sensor system and the optical fiber embedded within. Collected data may be extracted from the sensor system. A method of collecting data on environmental conditions within a wellbore includes disposing a sensor system onto a matrix substrate of a protector; coating the sensor system and matrix substrate with a composite material; curing the composite material so as to embed the sensor system within the protector; forming a protector around a drill string; using the sensor system to collect data from within the wellbore upon insertion of the drill string and protector; and retrieving the collected data.

Hydraulic propulsion horizontal directional coring device

A hydraulic propulsion horizontal directional coring device includes a casing pipe, a coring tube assembly and a conversion adapter. Both the casing pipe and the coring tube assembly coaxially set within the casing pipe are tubular. The conversion adapter, having a cylindrical structure fitted with the casing pipe, is coaxially set at a back side of the coring tube assembly and is slidably connected with an inner wall of the casing pipe. Under an action of an external force, the conversion adapter pushes the coring tube assembly to move along an axial direction of the casing pipe till a front end of the coring tube assembly extends out of or retracts into the casing pipe. The conversion adapter and the coring tube assembly have a first channel and a second channel axially provided therein, respectively. The first channel is connected with the second channel.

STABILIZING SYSTEM FOR DEEP DRILLING

The present invention relates to a stabilizing system (100, 200, 300) adapted to be used in a drilling system, wherein the transversal diameter of the stabilizing system (100, 200, 300) increases when drilling forces are applied onto the stabilizing system (100, 200, 300). The invention further comprises a corresponding method for drilling a hole.

The surface comprising a plurality of integral grooves traversing angularly along the surface. The sleeve may include a wear cage. The wear cage may include two rigid fiber reinforced polymer symmetrical halves, couplable to each other, wherein each symmetrical halve may include, an inner surface, a channel integral along the full circumferential length of the inner surface, an outer surface, and a plurality of annular elements separated by stand-offs.

Anchor system for imparting a rotational motion in a cutting apparatus

Systems and methods usable in conduit cutting operations are disclosed. Specifically, an anchor assembly is configured to be attached to a cutting apparatus and to equalize the upward and downward forces on the cutting apparatus during performance of the cutting operation. In addition, the anchor assembly is configured to impart a rotational motion in the cutting apparatus to produce a clean and complete horizontal cut of the conduit at a desired location.

CENTRALIZER DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DEPLOYMENT OF A BORE HOLE COMPONENT IN A BOREHOLE
20170234082 · 2017-08-17 ·

A centralizer device for center positioning of a bore hole component (90, 91) in a bore hole and a method for deploying such a centralizer are described. The centralizer device (100) is prepared to have two possible different states, one state being a locked state for improved deployment and another state being a released state for centring. The transition from the locked state to the released state is performed by introducing a pill of bore fluid having a pH-value outside range of pH-values of bore fluid in a well. The pill of bore fluid dissolves pH-soluble material in the centralizer device.
