20230203906 · 2023-06-29 ·

A head for a well tubular. The well tubular head includes features that may be applied to a casing head or a tubing head. The well tubular head includes a bowl tubular reversibly connected with a casing connector. The bowl tubular is adapted for connecting with an uphole component of an equipment stack or other system. The bowl tubular includes a hanger profile for receiving a casing hanger or tubing hanger. The casing connector is adapted for connecting with the casing. The bowl tubular and the casing connector may be replaced independently of each oth-er. Removable connection points for flow lines may be includ-ed on the well tubular head to facilitate changing flow lines or flow line connection points. The bowl tubular may include a dri-ve system for rotating tubing.

Pipe Wrench

A pipe wrench for making-up or breaking-out a threaded connection between a first tubular member and a second tubular member includes an upper wrench assembly with a pair of upper jaw assemblies configured to grip the first tubular member and a lower wrench assembly with a pair of lower jaw assemblies configured to grip the second tubular member. The upper and lower wrench assemblies are concentrically constrained, axially overlap, and radially engage with one another. Each of the upper and lower wrench assemblies independently includes a frame with a curved segment containing an arc at an angle of about 160° to about 200°. The upper and lower wrench assemblies are configured to rotate the first tubular member relative to the second tubular member and can have an angle of rotation in a range from about 75° to about 180°.

FLOOR WRENCH FOR A DRILLING RIG

A wrench for making up or breaking up a pipe joint is provided. The wrench comprises a tong assembly having an upper tong and a lower tong. The upper tong has a first upper tong half pivotably connected to a second upper tong half at their first ends. The lower tong has a first lower tong half pivotably connected to a second lower tong half at their first ends. A central bearing operatively couples the upper tong and the lower tong to allow the upper tong to rotate relative to the lower tong or vice versa. The tong assembly has a ram assembly for pushing or pulling the upper tong at a tangential location thereof and the ram assembly is retracted or extended to move the tong assembly between an open position, a closed position, and a rotated closed position where the upper tong is rotated relative to the lower tong.

Method and Apparatus for Improving Performance and Range of Conventional Power Tongs

A jaw assembly for gripping tubular goods in a power tong. The jaw assembly has at least three (3) jaw members: a first primary jaw member, a second primary jaw member, and at least one intermediate jaw member disposed between the first and second primary jaw members. The jaw assembly can be easily and conveniently installed within a conventional 2-jaw power tong without extensive modification thereto, and increases the pipe gripping capacity of the tong (and particularly small size pipe) without damaging the pipe.

System and method for washing and doping oilfield tubulars

A washing and doping mechanism includes a bushing that is configured to engage a tubular that is in a substantially vertical orientation. The bushing is configured to rotate, thereby causing the tubular to rotate about a central longitudinal axis of the tubular. The washing and doping mechanism also includes a sprayer configured to spray a fluid onto the tubular in the substantially vertical orientation.

Modular Spinner Roller

A spinner roller set adapted for use in an apparatus used to connect and disconnect threaded drilling tubulars includes a first and a second modular spinner roller that mounts independent drive and spacer discs on a central shaft. The setup is arranged so that the spinner rollers when in use can engage a small diameter tubular using the same setup as that for engaging a much larger diameter tubular. When a drive disc is in need of replacement, the worn drive disc can be removed from the central shaft and replaced with a new drive disc. The other drive discs and spacers can be reused.

Horizontal drilling machine with an in-situ detection device

A horizontal drilling machine with an in-situ detection device, including a support frame, an armored cable, a steel pipe-straightening mechanism, a steel pipe-feeding mechanism, a motor, a power head, a drill pipe, a rotating chuck, a damper, a non-core drilling tool, the in-situ detection device, a fishing device and a thrust cylinder. The steel pipe-straightening mechanism, the steel pipe-feeding mechanism, the rotating chuck and the damper are sequentially fixed on the support frame from left to right. One end of the thrust cylinder is hinged with the support frame, and the other end is connected to the power head. The active drill pipe of the power head is connected to the drill pipe. An end of the armored cable is connected to the fishing device in the drill pipe, and the fishing head of the fishing device is connected to the spearhead of the non-core drilling tool.

ROD POSITIONING DEVICE
20170328147 · 2017-11-16 · ·

A rod positioning device for aligning a drilling rod with a rod string having complementary mating threads, comprising a base, an arm mounted to the base about a first rotation axis, and a rod-gripping device mounted on the arm. The arm is for displacement about the first rotation axis between a rod loading position and a rod alignment position. The rod-gripping device is for operating between a rod-gripping configuration and a rod-releasing configuration. The rod-gripping device comprises jaws for gripping the drilling rod while the rod-gripping device is in the rod-gripping configuration and the arm is in the rod loading position, and guiding elements mounted on the jaws, the guiding elements aligning the drilling rod with the rod string and enabling longitudinal displacement of the drilling rod to contact the rod string.

Integrated Flush-Mount Spider and Power-Tong Apparatus and Method of Use
20170328150 · 2017-11-16 ·

An apparatus and method for an integrated flush-mount spider and power-tong apparatus comprising a flush-mount spider integrated with an attached power-tong and electronic load cell torque monitor. The power-tong applies rotation in opposite directions to make-up and breakout the pipe string. The flush mount spider holds the lower pipe string in place and serves as a backup tong to prevent rotation of the lower pipe string. The addition of a pipe spinner allows the integrated flush-mount spider and power-tong apparatus to replace a top drive for advancing a wellbore.
