CIRCUMFERENTIAL DISPLACEMENT SUCKER ROD TONG

A sucker rod tong assembly for fastening together sucker rods to a rod coupling, where the assembly can include a two-stage mechanical drive mechanism. The first stage can connect an upper sucker rod to a lower sucker rod via a rod coupling. The first stage can be limited in mechanical ability to tighten the connection to a pre-set shoulder torque value. The second stage can then be hydraulically and mechanically sequenced, using a linear gear drive mechanism, to rotate a main tong pinion gear that can further rotate the sucker rod connection through a fixed circumferential displacement to a mechanical stop.

Torque wrench engagement mechanism

A torque wrench engagement mechanism for a drilling machine is provided. The torque wrench engagement mechanism includes a wrench assembly. The wrench assembly includes a wrench member having a receiving portion adapted to receive a flattened portion of a pipe. The wrench assembly includes a guide member disposed adjacent to the wrench member. The wrench assembly also includes at least one guide pin disposed between the wrench member and the guide member. The wrench assembly further includes a spring member disposed in association with the at least one guide pin. The torque wrench engagement mechanism also includes an actuation member operably coupled to the wrench assembly. At an extended position of the actuation member, the spring member is adapted to move the wrench member to engage with the flattened portion of the pipe, when the flattened portion of the pipe slidably aligns with the receiving portion of the wrench member.

A method for accelerated break out of connected multi-segment tubulars by setting hydraulic fluid pressure to between 100 and 3000 psi, connecting the stationary wrench to a first segment of a multi-segment tubular, connecting a pivoting wrench to a second segment of the multi-segment tubular, and activating a pivoting hydraulic cylinder with a lever to break out the first segment from the second segment and wherein the pivoting wrench is configured to operate right side up and upside down for optimizing pivoting wrench flat fit.

System and method for installing or removing a seal sub from a riser

A tool configured to facilitate installation or removal of a seal sub from an annular structure includes a support structure configured to be coupled to the annular structure, a shaft extending axially from the support structure, and an engaging structure coupled to the shaft. The engaging structure includes a plurality of engaging members, and each of the plurality of engaging members is configured to move in a radial direction between a retracted position that enables the engaging structure to be inserted into the seal sub and an extended position that enables the respective engaging member of the plurality of engaging members to engage the seal sub.

Spinning torque wrench

A torque wrench is provided. The torque wrench has housing and a rotating assembly rotatably mounted in the housing. The rotating assembly has a gripping assembly with an aperture for receiving a tubular and a plurality of die assemblies; a bevel pinion carrier assembly with a bevel pinion carrier and a bevel pinion mounted in the bevel pinion carrier; an upper ring gear fixed to an upper bevel gear rotatably connected to the bevel pinion at an upper side of the bevel pinion carrier; a lower ring gear fixed to a lower bevel gear rotatably connected to the bevel pinion at a lower side of the bevel pinion carrier; and first and second members threadably coupleable with each other, the first threadably coupleable member fixedly connected to the bevel pinion and the second threadably coupleable member drivingly connected to the die assembly, wherein rotation of the bevel pinion drives the die assembly toward and away from the tubular.

Jig for coupling or uncoupling drill string sections with detachable couplings and related methods

A jig and method useful for coupling and/or uncoupling drill string sections. In some embodiments, the jig comprises a body having an outer surface for engaging a torqueing tool and a cavity extending from a first end to a second end of the body and an engagement means at the first end of the body. The engagement means may be dimensioned to non-rotationally engage an outer surface of a first end of a drill string section and the cavity may be sized to fit about a drill string section.
