PERFORATING GUN BRAKE AND SET DEVICE AND METHOD
A braking and setting device is configured to slow down a movement of a tool in a well and to fix the tool relative to the well. The braking and setting device includes two or more arms configured to extend from the tool, toward the well, to brake the movement of the tool along a longitudinal axis X; a movable piston configured to be hosted fully within the tool and to move only when a well fluid acts on a base portion of the movable piston, while a tip portion of the movable piston pushes away the two or more arms; and an actuation mechanism configured to establish a fluid communication between the well fluid and the base portion of the movable piston. The movable piston moves exclusively due to a force exerted by the well fluid on the movable piston.
SENSING DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR USE IN CIVIL ENGINEERING
The present invention is related to a sensing device, a system and a method for performing a measurement at a first predetermined depth in a monitoring well on a land for use in civil engineering, wherein the sensing device includes: a device main body; an inner sensor configured in the device main body; a first sleeve configured on the device main body and including a cylindrical hollow body having at least one axial through hole and a first and a second annular end surfaces; a first inflatable diaphragm configured on the first sleeve, wherein the monitoring well includes an inner wall, and when the first inflatable diaphragm is in a first inflation status, the first inflatable diaphragm presses against the inner wall at a second predetermined depth so as to define the land into an upper stratum thereabove and a lower stratum thereunder; and an outer sensor penetrating the at least one axial through hole for sensing an analyte flowing through the lower stratum.
Methods and Apparatus for providing a plug with a two-step expansion
A plug assembly includes an expandable assembly and a locking ring. The expandable assembly is adapted to be deformed radially over the locking ring. The locking ring has a stopping inner surface. The plug assembly is used with an untethered object, which has an outer surface adapted to couple with the stopping inner surface of the locking ring. The untethered object is also adapted to contact an inner surface of the plug assembly and, using well fluid pressure, to apply forces to the plug assembly. The forces cause the longitudinal movement of the untethered object while contacting the inner surface of the plug assembly until the untethered object contacts the stopping inner surface of the locking ring.
ANNULAR PRESSURE ACTIVATED DOWNHOLE TOOL
An annular pressure activated downhole tool has a housing including an outer surface, an inner surface defining a passage, an annular projection projecting into the passage from the inner surface, and an opening. A mandrel extends into the passage. The mandrel has a first end and a second end. A power spring support is detachably connected to the second end of the mandrel in the passage. A power spring is arranged about the mandrel and extends between the power spring support and the annular projection. A trigger housing is arranged in one of the mandrel and the power spring support. A trigger arranged in the trigger housing selectively engages with the inner surface. The trigger is operable to disengage from the inner surface of the housing, releasing the power spring, and shifting the mandrel along the passage when exposed to a selected annular pressure.
WELL TOOL
A well tool for removing metal debris from a well bore has a magnet element, an anti-torque anchor, a debris removal unit, a debris container and a first connecting end for a rotatable well string. The magnet element has a cylinder-shaped housing. The removal unit has a helix-shaped longitudinal guide element arranged on the housing. The anchor is connected to the housing or the guide element such that actuation of the anchor during use will prevent rotation of the housing or the guide element, respectively, relative the well-bore. The container has an opening at the end of the housing. The housing and the guide element are rotatable relative each other, and configured such that metal debris accumulating on the housing during use is guided by the guide element towards the opening of the container when the anchor is actuated and the first connecting end is rotated.
LINER HANGER AND METHOD
A downhole tool includes a mandrel configured to be coupled to a liner, the mandrel defining a first port and a second port, the first and second ports being axially offset from one another and extending radially through a wall of the mandrel, a slips assembly coupled to the mandrel, an outer cylinder received around the mandrel and configured to transmit an axially-directed force onto the slips assembly, and a retaining assembly positioned radially between the mandrel and the outer cylinder. The retaining assembly has a first configuration that prevents the outer cylinder from moving relative to the mandrel, and a second configuration that permits the outer cylinder to move axially along the mandrel and set the slips assembly. The retaining assembly is configured to actuate from the first configuration to the second configuration in response to a pressure in the first port exceeding a pressure in the second port.
Well abandonment and slot recovery
A downhole casing cutting and removal assembly (10) and method of use thereof, the assembly comprising a work string (23) with a cutting mechanism (18) and plurality of resettable anchor mechanisms (20B-20D). The arrangement allows a test pull to be made following the cut by an anchor mechanism closer to the upper end of the cut casing section than an anchor mechanism (20B-20D) located close to the cutting mechanism. Time is thus saved by not having to raise and lower a single anchor mechanism (20B-20D) between the cutting position and the upper end of the cut casing section to undertake a test pull.
Downhole test tool and method of use
A circulation test tool and method of performing a circulation test in a wellbore during single-trip casing cutting and removal. An anchor mechanism (20), a mechanical-set retrievable packer (22) and a cutting mechanism (18) allow gripping and cutting of casing (14) with the mechanical set-retrievable packer (22) being set after the cut to carry out the circulation test. The well is kept under control during the cut by application of tension on the drill string to set the packer (22) at any time. The arrangement provides full annulus flow pass at the packer during cutting. Embodiments describe additional features of a drill to dress a cement plug or a settable bridge plug.
Well Operations
A thru-tubing recover string (10) and method of moving a stuck object (14) in tubing in a well (16). A bottom hole assembly (22) is connected to a work string and includes a first (32) and a second tool (34), each tool configured to apply a force to the object in order to move the object (14), the first force being an impulse force, the second force being a static force, and the tools being operable independently so that an operator can apply either force in the event that application of one type of force on the object fails to move the object. Embodiments are described for the first tool (32) being a hammer tool or a jar and the second tool being a pulling tool such as a jack. The invention finds application in removing stuck objects such as plugs or actuating elements on tools such as sliding sleeves in production tubing.
DISPOSABLE SETTING TOOL FOR WELLBORE OPERATIONS
A disposable setting tool includes a housing having a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion having an outer surface and an inner surface defining a passage. A piston assembly is arranged in the passage. The piston assembly including a first piston portion and a second piston portion that extends axially outwardly of the second end of the housing. The first piston portion includes a first end portion, a second end portion, and an intermediate section having an outer surface portion and an inner surface portion that extends between the first end portion and the second end portion. The inner surface portion defines a pressure passage. An atmospheric chamber is defined between the inner surface of the housing and the outer surface portion of the piston assembly.
