METHOD OF CREATING AN ANNULAR ZONAL ISOLATION SEAL IN A DOWNHOLE ANNULUS
An isolation joint is provided with a downhole tubular that has an expandable section which, in axial direction, is sandwiched between a first separator section and a second separator section of the downhole tubular. The expandable section has a circumferential band of increased wall thickness compared to the wall thicknesses of the first and second separator sections. Furthermore, the downhole tubular is provided with a mating support at a predetermined axial location relative to said at least expandable section, adapted for mating with the local expander device within said downhole tubular. This mating support ensures transversal alignment with of a local expander device with the downhole tubular such that the local expansion exclusively is activated within the expandable section.
DETONATION ACTIVATED WIRELINE RELEASE TOOL
A detonator activated wireline release tool is provided for use in geological well operations that enables the wireline cable to be easily released from tool string equipment upon activation of a detonator housed within the release tool. The release tool has a wireline subassembly portion that is connected to a tool string subassembly portion during assembly. It is sometimes necessary to disconnect the wireline subassembly from the tool string subassembly at a time when accessing the either is not physically possible. Such release is achieved by sending an electronic signal that detonates an explosive load which actuates a latch through an expansion chamber. The latch shifts and allows the finger flanges previously connecting the subassemblies to disengage, thus releasing the subassemblies.
SHAPED CHARGE ASSEMBLY, EXPLOSIVE UNITS, AND METHODS FOR SELECTIVELY EXPANDING WALL OF A TUBULAR
A shaped charge assembly for selectively expanding a wall of a tubular includes first and second explosive units that are each symmetrical about an axis of revolution. Each explosive unit includes an explosive material that is liner-less. The first and second explosive units comprise a predetermined amount of explosive sufficient to expand, without puncturing, at least a portion of the wall of the tubular into a protrusion extending outward into an annulus adjacent the wall of the tubular.
Delivery tool for tubular placement of an adaptive seat
A delivery tool creates relative axial movement to retract a retaining sleeve from an adaptive seat so that the adaptive seat can release from the delivery tool and find support in a tubular string. The relative movement is created directly with a power charge acting on a piston attached to the retaining sleeve. Movement of the retaining sleeve releases support dogs that position the delivery tool when releasing the adaptive seat. The adaptive seat is protected for running in with a collapsible ring structure that passes through the adaptive seat opening when the delivery tool is pulled out of the hole. The retaining sleeve is replaced and the power charge is renewed to allow the delivery tool to be used more than once.
Frac plug system with integrated setting tool
A frac plug system downhole tool and method of securing a frac plug system in a wellbore. A mandrel extending from a first end to a second end. A setting assembly is on the first end of the mandrel and is movable along the mandrel. An anchor is at the second end of the mandrel and is expandable to engage the wellbore. A gas generates a pressure to move the setting assembly along the mandrel to expand the anchor at the second end of the mandrel.

The latch shifts and allows the finger flanges previously connecting the subassemblies to disengage, thus releasing the subassemblies.
Frac plug with integral setting tool
A system combining a setting tool and a frac plug into one assembly thus producing a much shorter and more reliable assembly. More specifically, a downhole assembly comprising a plug section, which itself comprises a top sub, a bottom sub, a slip, and an elastomeric element. The downhole assembly further comprises a power section comprising a body comprising a power charge and one or more ignitors, a firing head, a shearing pin, and a setting tool piston. Additionally, the downhole assembly comprises a check valve, wherein the check valve is positioned downhole from the power charge and inside the setting tool piston; a mandrel comprising a hydraulic chamber and a ball, wherein the mandrel is positioned inside and adjacent to the setting tool piston and the top sub; and a dog.
Impact Resistant Material in Setting Tool
A setting tool comprising a first and a second cylindrical body with inner bores, a third cylindrical body engaged to the first cylindrical body and having an inner cavity with an axial opening adapted to accept a power charge and a having a distal end with a shoulder engaged with the second cylindrical body, a fourth cylindrical body coupled to the third cylindrical body and having a transverse slot, a fifth cylindrical body fixed to the second cylindrical body and having an inner bore wherein the fourth cylindrical body is engaged therewith and further having a radial face within the second cylindrical body, a disc shaped impact dampening material with a hollow center having the fourth cylindrical body is located there through and coupled to the radial face of the fifth cylindrical body, and a sixth cylindrical body coupled to the fifth cylindrical body and having a transverse slot.
Shaped Charge Assembly, Explosive Units, And Methods for Selectively Expanding Wall of a Tubular
A shaped charge assembly for selectively expanding a wall of a tubular includes a housing comprising an outer surface facing away from the housing and an opposing inner surface facing an interior of the housing. First and second explosive units each includes a predetermined amount of explosive sufficient to expand, without puncturing, at least a portion of the wall of the tubular to form a protrusion extending outward into an annulus adjacent the wall of the tubular.
