A downhole sealing apparatus comprises a propellant section and a sealing element section adjacent the propellant section. The propellant section comprises an outer housing, at least one propellant structure within the outer housing, and at least one initiator device adjacent the at least one propellant structure. The sealing element section is configured to isolate a region of a borehole in a subterranean formation responsive to pressure of gases produced through combustion of at least one propellant of the at least one propellant structure of the propellant section. A downhole assembly and a method of isolating portions of a borehole in a subterranean formation are also disclosed.
Opposing piston setting tool
A setting tool for use in setting plugs downhole using opposing pistons to axially compress a plug, thereby causing it to radially expand.
Wellbore assembly with an accumulator system for actuating a setting tool
A wellbore assembly includes a conveyance member including at least one of a continuous spooled rod, a wireline, and a slickline; an accumulator system connected to the conveyance member; and a setting tool connected to the accumulator system. The accumulator system may be configured to supply a fluid pressure to actuate the setting tool. A method of operating a wellbore tool includes lowering a wellbore assembly into a wellbore using a conveyance member including at least one of a continuous spooled rod, a wireline, and a slickline, wherein the wellbore assembly includes an accumulator system and a setting tool. The method includes actuating the accumulator system to provide a fluid pressure to the setting tool. The method also includes actuating the setting tool using the fluid pressure.
REUSABLE PERFORATING GUN SYSTEM AND METHOD
A tool string includes a perforating gun including a signal conductor, a sub that includes a sub housing including a first bulkhead receptacle extending into the sub housing from a first end, a second bulkhead receptacle extending into the sub housing from a second end, and a switch receptacle positioned between the first bulkhead receptacle and the second bulkhead receptacle, a first bulkhead connector, and a second bulkhead connector, and a switch positionable in the switch receptacle, wherein the switch is configured to establish an electrical connection with the signal conductor of the perforating gun in response to coupling of the sub with the perforating gun, and wherein the switch receptacle is isolated from fluid pressure external of the switch receptacle when the first bulkhead connector is positioned in the first bulkhead receptacle and the second bulkhead connector is positioned in the second bulkhead receptacle.
DIGITAL PERFORATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
A completion system for perforating a tubular string positioned in a wellbore includes a tool string positionable in the wellbore, wherein the tool string includes a first perforating gun and a plurality of digital switches, a control system connectable to the tool string, wherein the control system is configured to generate a plurality of unique identifiers for each switch of the plurality of switches, assign each of the plurality of unique identifiers to one of the plurality of switches, and transmit a signal to a first switch of the plurality of switches including a first unique identifier of the plurality of unique identifiers to actuate the first perforating gun and perforate the tubular string, wherein the first unique identifier is assigned to the first switch.
AUTO-BLEEDING SETTING TOOL AND METHOD
A setting tool for setting an auxiliary tool in a well. The setting tool includes a housing holding a floating piston assembly; an isolation valve assembly in fluid contact with an interior of the housing; and a frangible disc located to prevent a high-pressure gas to pass through a bore of the floating piston assembly.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SETTING A DOWNHOLE PLUG USING A SELF DAMPING SETTING TOOL
A setting tool for actuating a downhole plug in a wellbore includes a housing including a central passage, a piston slidably disposed in the housing and including a central passage, and wherein the piston includes a first position in the housing and a second position the housing spaced from the first position in a first axial direction, and an atmospheric chamber filled with compressible fluid formed radially between the piston and the housing, and wherein the atmospheric chamber is sealed from an environment surrounding the setting tool when the piston is in the first position, wherein, in response to a pressurization of the central passage of the piston, the setting tool is configured to displace the piston from the first position to the second position and compress the compressible fluid within the atmospheric chamber.
