PACKER CUP FOR USE ON DOWNHOLE WELLBORE TOOLS
A packer cup for use on downhole wellbore tools is provided herein. The packer cup has a composite annular body made from elastomer and/or polymer materials capable of accomplishing effective sealing at normal to high operating temperatures and at all pressure ranges in order to provide superior resistance to aggressive fluids, such as sour crude oil or gas, lubricating oil additives and amine corrosion inhibitors. The packer cup has a radial array of concave reinforcing wires that are retained by a metal cylindrical sleeve. In addition, the packer cup may include a support cup that is received about a lower tapered end in order to provide additional structural support to the cup.
Instrumented bridge plugs for downhole measurements
A system includes a first instrumented bridge plug positionable in a downhole wellbore environment. The first instrumented bridge plug includes an acoustic source for transmitting an acoustic signal. The system also includes a second instrumented bridge plug positionable in the downhole wellbore environment. The second instrumented bridge plug includes an acoustic sensor for receiving a reflected acoustic signal originating from the acoustic signal. The reflected acoustic signal being usable to interpret wellbore formation characteristics of the downhole wellbore environment.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTACTING AN OPEN HOLE SURFACE
An apparatus and method for contacting an open hole surface are provided. The apparatus includes an expandable portion surrounded by a contact portion configured to contact an open hole surface. The method includes expanding an expandable portion surrounded by a contact portion to create contact between the contact portion and an open hole surface.
ANNULAR BARRIER
The present invention relates to an annular barrier for providing zonal isolation in an annulus downhole between a well tubular metal structure and another well tubular metal structure or a wall of a borehole, comprising a tubular metal part configured to be mounted as part of the well tubular metal structure, the tubular metal part having an outer face, an opening and an axial extension along the well tubular metal structure, an expandable metal sleeve surrounding the tubular metal part, the expandable metal sleeve having a circumferential groove, a first end and a second end, each end of the expandable metal sleeve being connected with the outer face of the tubular metal part, and a sealing unit arranged in the circumferential groove, the annular sealing unit comprising an annular sealing element and a back-up sealing element abutting and supporting the annular sealing element, wherein the annular sealing element in a cross-section along the axial extension has a first width, a second width and a third width; the second width is larger than the first width and the third width and is arranged between the first width and the third width; the back-up sealing element has a first contact area, and the annular sealing element has a second contact area, where the first contact area has a shape that mates with the second contact area. The invention also relates to a downhole completion system comprising an annular barrier and a well tubular metal structure.
Transforming bridge-to-flow-through frac plug
A transforming bridge-to-flow-through frac plug has a mandrel, a retaining sleeve, a pair of cones, a pair of slips, a packing element, and a keeper ring. The mandrel is concentrically connected within the retaining sleeve, and is constructed of a dissolvable material such that the mandrel is dissolvable through application of a solvent in order to form a big bore flow-through frac plug if removal of the frac plug by milling is not possible. The pair of cones, pair of slips, packing element, and keeper ring are positioned on the exterior of the retaining sleeve in order to secure the frac plug in place after a setting operation, even if the mandrel is dissolved in order to form the big bore flow-through frac plug.
Degradable polymer composition for use in downhole tools and method of manufacturing
A chemical composition for a degradable polymeric material includes an isocyanate terminated polyester prepolymer, including prepolymer units as a main chain with a plurality of isocyanates at ends of the main chain, and a cross-linking agent. The isocyanate terminated polyester prepolymer has a structural formula as follows: ONC—R″—NH—[—CO—R—R′″-]n-NH—R″—CNO, wherein R′″ is selected from a group consisting of —O— and —CO—O—R′—O—, ##STR00001##
wherein R, R′ and R″ are an aryl group or alkyl group and wherein n is a number of prepolymer units corresponding to length of the main chain. The composition degrades at a rate and at a delay depending on temperature and the composition for a component of a downhole tool. The composition has strength and elasticity for a component of a downhole tool.
Downhole setting system for use in a wellbore
A downhole tool suitable for use in a wellbore, the tool having a cone mandrel having a dual-cone outer surface. The downhole tool includes a carrier ring disposed around one end of the cone mandrel, and a seal element disposed around the carrier ring. There is a slip disposed around or proximate to an other end of the cone mandrel.
Plugging device
A barrier plug assembly for sealing a subterranean wellbore is located inside a tubing and can comprise a frangible barrier element stacked on a carrier ring, a locking sleeve located above the carrier ring and located in a closed fluid chamber, a valve located on the closed fluid chamber and in pressure communication with the tubing, a retaining device configured for locking the a carrier ring in place, a crushing element located a distance below the frangible barrier element and configured for crushing the frangible barrier element. The valve can be configured for allowing or preventing fluid communication in between the tubing and the fluid chamber.
High-Expansion Well Sealing Using Seal Seat Extender
A sealing tool, system and method for sealing a wellbore achieves increased expansion with the use of a seal seat extender. In one example, a seal seat (e.g., a ball seat) defines an axial flow bore in fluid communication with the wellbore to be sealed, a sealing profile for receiving a loose sealing element (e.g., a ball or dart) to close the axial flow bore, and a tapered outer profile. The seal seat extender is initially disposed against the seal seat and is expandable against the seal seat in response to an axial setting force, such as by sliding up the tapered outer profile of the seal seat and/or buckling outwardly, in response to a setting force. A compliant annular packing element disposed against the seal seat extender is deformable outwardly into sealing engagement with the wellbore in response to the axial setting force.
