CORRODIBLE DOWNHOLE ARTICLE
20180010217 · 2018-01-11 · ·

A corrodible downhole article includes a magnesium alloy. The magnesium alloy includes: 1-9 wt % Zn; 1-2 wt % Cu; 0.5-1.0 wt % Mn; and 0.1-5 wt % of a corrosion promoting element (e.g., Ni). The alloy can have a 0.2% proof strength of at least 150 MPa when tested using standard tensile test method ASTM B557-10.

MULTISTAGE HIGH PRESSURE FRACTURING SYSTEM WITH COUNTING SYSTEM

The invention relates to a multistage high pressure fracturing system and tubular hydraulic valve (THV) system for connection to a completion string to enable isolation of a zone of interest within a well. In particular, the system enables access to a downhole formation for fracturing the zone of interest and for hydrocarbon production. The system generally includes a plug counting system, a plug capture system and a valve system wherein dropping a series of plugs down the completion string enables successive capture of individual plugs within individual THVs for subsequent fracturing operations.

Downhole Activation of Seismic Tools
20180010407 · 2018-01-11 · ·

A well tool for sensing seismic activity at a downhole location has an anchoring mechanism for mechanically coupling the tool to a formation by contact engagement with a wall of a subterranean cavity in which the well tool is located. The anchoring mechanism is deployable by a pressure-triggered hydraulic actuator incorporated in the tool. The actuator is configured for pressure-triggered activation and for hydraulic actuation by agency of borehole fluids (e.g., drilling mud). The actuator can provide a persistent contacting force urging the anchoring mechanism into contact with the cavity wall, to promote firm coupling with the formation for seismic sensoring purposes.

Plugging device

A barrier plug assembly for sealing a subterranean wellbore is located inside a tubing and can comprise a frangible barrier element stacked on a carrier ring, a locking sleeve located above the carrier ring and located in a closed fluid chamber, a valve located on the closed fluid chamber and in pressure communication with the tubing, a retaining device configured for locking the a carrier ring in place, a crushing element located a distance below the frangible barrier element and configured for crushing the frangible barrier element. The valve can be configured for allowing or preventing fluid communication in between the tubing and the fluid chamber.

Mechanical Drain for Oilfield Service
20230023843 · 2023-01-26 ·

A mechanically actuated tubing drain for service with oil wells, water wells, gas wells and/or thermal wells has a configuration in which the drain opens by operation of a bumper member which may be pulled upwardly to move a sleeve member which is initially positioned adjacent to a drain port, thereby sealing the drain port. Once the bumper member pushes the sleeve member upwardly, any fluid in the tubing above the drain port will drain from the tubing. The bumper member may be pulled upwardly either by upward movement of a rod string or by operation of a wireline or slickline tool. The mechanically actuated drain does not require a tubing anchor to operate.

METHOD FOR POSITIONING A MULTILATERAL JUNCTION WITHOUT THE NEED FOR A DEFLECTOR ASSEMBLY

Provided is a multilateral junction, a well system, and a method. The multilateral junction, in at least one aspect, includes a mainbore leg having a first mainbore leg end and a second opposing mainbore leg end, as well as a lateral bore leg having a first lateral bore leg end and a second opposing lateral bore leg end. The multilateral junction, according to this aspect, further includes a lateral locating assembly coupled to the second opposing lateral bore leg end, the lateral locating assembly including: a tubular; and a bendable deflection tip coupled to the tubular, the bendable deflection tip configured to move between a straight position and a bent position upon the application of fluid pressure thereto.

Filter sub for downhole applications

A filter assembly can include a filter element and a fluid inlet for fluid to flow through the filter element. The filter assembly can include bypass ports that are in a closed position from bypass port plugs until the filter screen becomes sufficiently clogged such that the fluid is restricted or prevented from flowing through the filter screen, which causes pressure to build up within the filter assembly. The increase in pressure can cause the bypass port plug to open the bypass ports such that fluid can flow through the bypass ports. The filter assembly can include a debris sleeve that partially or wholly surrounds the filter screen.

DELAYED OPENING PORT ASSEMBLY

A port assembly for controlling fluid flow through a flow port of a port sub. The port assembly comprises a dissolvable barrier, a burst disk for protecting the dissolvable barrier from fluids inside the port sub, and optionally a protective layer for protecting the dissolvable barrier from external fluids. When the burst disk is ruptured by increased fluid pressure inside the port sub, the dissolvable barrier starts disintegrating from exposure to the fluid. When the dissolvable barrier and protective layer are broken through, a flow passage is opened in the port assembly to permit fluid flow therethrough. The flow passage may be positioned tangentially in the port sub. The breakthrough time of the dissolvable barrier may be preconfigured by providing one or more thinner areas therein and/or placing a corrosive material in the port assembly.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INJECTING A FLUID INTO THE WELL DURING DRILLING
20230013958 · 2023-01-19 ·

An apparatus for injecting an accelerating fluid into an oil well includes casing open at the ends into which a cement flows and positioned inside the well forming an annular zone with its walls. The casing includes a hollow cylindrical body with lateral surfaces integral with the casing internal surfaces and a central hole through which a cement flows, with a lower horizontal section than the casing section. The apparatus includes hollow internal chamber with an accelerating fluid; one or more body inlet devices, which put the body and chamber in fluid communication. The inlet devices are positioned on one of the hollow cylindrical body base surfaces. The apparatus includes at least one body outlet devices, which puts the chamber in fluid communication with the conduit through the central hole, positioned radially with respect to the cylindrical body axis and along the central hole internal surface.
