Downhole tool having a shock-absorbing sleeve
An apparatus having a shock-absorbing sleeve is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a housing, an axially moveable sleeve received in the housing and a sealed annular space having a fixed volume axially between the housing and the sleeve. A barrier axially moveable with the sleeve divides the annular space into a first and a second chambers. The first and second chambers are filled with uncompressible dampening fluid. One or more metering passages across the barrier fluidly connect the first and chambers. During the axial movement of the sleeve, the volume of the first chamber is reduced and that of the second chamber is increased, forcing the fluid in the first chamber to flow into the second chamber in a controlled manner to dampen the movement of the sleeve.
GRAVEL PACK SERVICE TOOL WITH ENHANCED PRESSURE MAINTENANCE
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a gravel pack system includes a service tool used to maintain a pressure of the wellbore below a hydraulic packer at the same pressure of workstring tubing above the hydraulic packer, prior to and during setting the hydraulic packer. The service tool includes a washpipe disposed at a lower portion of the service tool, a crossover port in a wall of the service tool that enables fluid to flow between workstring tubing and a space between the service tool and a completion string. The service tool also includes a valve disposed in the wall of the service tool that directs fluid from the space between the service tool and the completion string into the service tool and toward the washpipe when the valve is open, the valve being closeable in response to compression of the service tool.

Pipe Valve Control and Method of Use
The present invention applies to flowing wells. Within a flowing well, production tubing moves fluid upward under immense pressures and is greatly exposed to damage, either accidental, or intentional. Recently, there is increased concern in protecting our production wells from damage, either natural or man-made. The present invention is designed to address the problems of controlling hydrocarbon, and fluid flow, through production tubing after the production tubing is compromised by penetration or severance.

Mechanically actuated device positioned below mechanically actuated release assembly utilizing J-slot device
A tool string carrying an external tool, such as a liner hanger, on a release mechanism is lowered into the wellbore. Interlocking lugs and J-slot profile, defined between the exterior surface of the mandrel and interior surface of the release mechanism, allow relative movement of release mechanism and mandrel without releasing the release mechanism. The relative movement allows mechanical operation of a valve or other tool positioned below the release mechanism. Weight-down and rotation of the tool string and mandrel actuates the lower valve assembly by turning a sleeve into alignment with cooperating members of the mandrel. The sleeve, no longer constrained, moves longitudinally in response to a biasing mechanism. Movement of the sleeve allows closure of the valve. After actuation of the valve tool, further weight-down releases the release mechanism from the carried tool.

INTERNAL BLOWOUT-PREVENTION GAS-RETAINING CONNECTOR FOR MINE
An internal blowout-prevention gas-retaining connector has a body mounted at the bottom of a drill pipe. The body includes a valve pipe section and a connecting pipe section arranged from top to bottom. The bottom of the valve pipe section is inserted into the top of the connecting pipe section. The blowout-prevention valve seat is provided at a bottom end of the valve pipe section while a blowout-prevention valve bonnet is provided on a bottom surface of the valve pipe section. The edge of the blowout-prevention valve bonnet is rotatably connected to a bottom surface edge of the valve pipe section. A torsion spring is provided on a bottom surface of the blowout-prevention valve bonnet. One end of the torsion spring is connected to the bottom surface of the blowout-prevention valve bonnet while the other end is connected to the inner wall of the connecting pipe section.
