Methods and apparatus for ultrawide entrance angle reflective articles for use with autonomous vehicle machine vision systems
A two-layer retroreflective article construction is enabled that produces higher wide-entrance-angle performance for signs and pavement markings. A single-layer overlay is enabled for existing signs and pavement markers that improve their entrance angle performance. Materials used in the construction of an article or an overlay are transparent to radiation in the range of 400 to 1000 nanometers and utilize TIR (total internal reflection). Minimum performance specifications are proposed that extend sign sheeting retroreflectivity specifications to entrance angles of 60 degrees. An innovative traffic sign design is enabled that increases the positioning performance of safety systems and automated navigation systems.

Pole Safety Apparatus
A safety apparatus having a first half-shell component, a second half-shell component and at least one strip of reflective material affixed to both half-shell components. The first half-shell component has a first interior surface and a first exterior surface and defines a first c-shape cross-section. The second half-shell component has a second interior surface and a second exterior surface and defines a second c-shape cross-section. The first half-shell component and the second half-shell component are configured to form a cylindrically shaped housing when connected to each other. The cylindrically shaped housing allows the apparatus to be attached to a power pole, post or other obstacle. At least one strip of reflective material is affixed to the exterior surfaces of the half-shell components in a manner to provide high visibility.

The present disclosure relates to an retroreflective structural colour film and a preparation method thereof. The main steps are as follows: (1) assembling colloidal microspheres to form a monolayer of microspheres; and (2) transferring the monolayer of microspheres onto a transparent substrate which has an adhesive layer to make the monolayer of microspheres partially embedded in the adhesive layer to prepare the retroreflective structural colour film. The retroreflective material has the advantages of the simple preparation process, high reflective brightness and uniformity of reflection colour. Moreover, the retroreflective material can exhibit unique retroreflective structural colour under the illumination of a white light source. These characteristics make the retroreflective material especially suitable for nighttime traffic safety applications, for example, to provide a constant colour signal to drivers, and simultaneously to provide dynamically changing colour signal to pedestrians to warn them of approaching vehicles.

REFLECTOR HAVING INFORMATION GENERATION FUNCTION
A reflector having an information generation function, wherein information allowing a quick and clear understanding of a traffic system and the surrounding environment thereof can be generated by a combination of unit reflectors recognizable by a light detection and ranging (Lidar) or radio detecting and ranging (Radar) system, is proposed. The reflector includes a plurality of unit reflectors for representing information through code generation, wherein each of the unit reflectors represents information by reflecting light beams or radio waves therefrom or transmitting the same therethrough, whereby binary-coded information is generated using the reflector, which allows a Lidar system or a Radar system to recognize the generated information.
