Protective barrier and a corresponding structure
A method of fitting a protective barrier on a structure base. The method may include removing a first sidewall from a tire. A line may be cut spanning from an outer diameter of the sidewall to an inner diameter of the sidewall such that the sidewall includes sidewall ends and the sidewall is no longer a continuous loop. The sidewall ends may be bent away from each other to widen a gap between the sidewall ends. The sidewall may be placed around the structure base by moving the sidewall relative to the structure base such that the structure base passes through the gap and into an inner opening of the sidewall.
PROTECTIVE CONSTRUCTION
A protective construction, such as a fence for a race track, may include a device for energy dissipation, e.g., in line with a guy wire. In some examples, the energy dissipation device may have a braking profile and a cutting unit having at least one blade that can be pulled through the braking profile along its longitudinal axis.
Crash cushion with improved reinforcing cable system
A crash cushion includes a number of spaced-apart supports or bulkheads; energy absorbing modules positioned between the supports; overlapping side panels that interconnect the supports and envelop the energy absorbing modules; front and rear fixed anchors; and reinforcing cables extending between the anchors. The cables extend through cable guides formed in the supports so as to stabilize the supports and facilitate controlled collapse of the supports during vehicle impacts.
SELF-CENTRING IMPACT ENERGY DISSIPATION MECHANISM
A mechanism for mounting in ground, foundation or structure, to provide road, port, railway or similar passive safety for protection of the respective vehicles or structures, having at least one rigid element arranged as a side of a triangle whose basal side rests on the ground, with its first end at the apex of the triangle, its midpoint pivoted to an intermediate element, and with its second end pivoted with respect to at least one friction element; a friction dissipation member; at least one elastic element arranged with its axis in the direction of the degree of freedom; the at least one friction element and at least one rigid element are attached by a coupling element allowing sliding of each friction element perpendicular to the impact load when it compresses the elastic element.
Guardrail terminal barrier
A force-absorbing barrier includes a plurality of chambers at least partially filled with fluid. The walls defining the chambers are flexible. Fluid passages in the interior walls between chambers allow fluid flow between the chambers. Alternatively, the chambers are filled with structures instead of or in addition to a fluid. The fluid flow from chamber to chamber and/or the deformation of the structures will absorb energy from the impact a motor vehicle, preventing the vehicle from impacting the terminal of a guardrail.
Safety end piece for road barriers
Safety end piece mounted in the front end of metal road barriers, wherein the end piece is frontally provided with a sliding support with blades that, when hit by an out of control vehicle, is capable of moving towards a beam of laminated wood and interfering with the blades with the structure of the beam, in such a way that the interference determines a progressive reduction of the forward traveling speed of the sliding support and absorbs the energy of the impact discharged by the out of control vehicle against the sliding support.
Barrier system
A security barrier system (1) and a bracket (2a, 2b) therefor are disclosed. The bracket comprises at least one each of a first type and a second type of mutually spaced fence member receiving channels (8a,8b,10a-10f), the or each channel of the second type (8a, 8b) having a greater width than the or each channel of the first type (10a-10f), as measured along a length of the bracket. The security barrier system comprises a plurality of support posts (4), attached to each support post is at least one bracket, the length of the bracket orientated vertically, and a plurality of fence members (12a-12h) orientated horizontally, each member passing through a corresponding one of the fence member receiving channels of each bracket.
Breakaway Guardrail Post for a Highway Crash Attenuation System
A highway crash attenuation system having an improved breakaway guardrail post. An improved upper section of Post 1 has an anchor bearing plate with a cooperating stabilizing bolt engaging with the upstream face of the upper post section. The downstream side of the upper post section is provided with split, spaced-apart strut sections which do not obstruct the rear cable pass through notch.
Crash cushion
A crash cushion includes overlapping first and second rail sections coupled with a fastener. The first rail section is moveable relative to the second rail section from a pre-impact position to an impact position in response to an axial impact to the guardrail assembly. The first rail section includes an elongated slot aligned with the fastener and having a first length. A support post is releasably connected to the first rail section and is rotatable to a laid over position after the first rail section has moved a first travel distance, wherein the first length is greater than or equal to the first travel distance.
FLEXIBLE TENSIONED CRASH BARRIER
A roadside crash barrier configured for deflecting errant vehicles towards the road. The barrier comprising at least one tensioned flexible strap comprising a planar face facing the road in use. Compared to prior art systems, the present invention reduces the chances of injury to motorcyclists, as well as being fast and easy to install. A collapsible end anchor for holding the tension of the straps is also described herein, where the end anchor is configured to reduce vehicle rollover should end on impact occur whilst still retaining the effectiveness of the retained road barrier.
