A snow plow having a wing that is rotatably coupled to a side of a primary plow, and configured to rotate about a first axis substantially parallel to the side of the primary plow. A portion of the wing is operable to rotate about a second axis that is non-parallel to the first axis, where the portion is operable to rotate upward about the second axis relative to the ground in response to the wing encountering an obstruction. A snow plow having a receiver coupled to a surface of the primary plow and an actuator coupled to the receiver. The receiver allows the snow plow to move proximally and distally with respect to a vehicle.

A snow plow having a lift actuator for a snow plow of a vehicle. The lift actuator including a lift actuator reservoir configured to accumulate compressible gas, which is operable to bias the lift actuator toward an extended position. A pneumatic valve may be operable to selectively control supply of compressible gas from a gas reservoir to the lift actuator reservoir.

A snow plow having a lift actuator for a snow plow of a vehicle. The lift actuator including a lift actuator reservoir configured to accumulate compressible gas, which is operable to bias the lift actuator toward an extended position. A pneumatic valve may be operable to selectively control supply of compressible gas from a gas reservoir to the lift actuator reservoir.

A vehicle mounted articulating snow plow apparatus is provided for clearing snow from roads and driveways. The snow plow includes a blade assembly having a center blade and an extendable wing blade coupled to each end of the center blade. The blade assembly can be raised and lowered relative to the vehicle and ground surface and can be rotated about a vertical axis. Each extendable blade is independently pivotable relative to the center blade through an arc of greater than one-hundred eighty degrees (180°) about a vertical axis. The blade assembly is extendable and retractable between at least a stowed configuration, wherein the extendable blades extend laterally inboard alongside the center blade, and a linearly extended configuration, wherein the extendable blades are outboard of the center blade. The blade assembly includes an actuation mechanism to pivot the extendable blade relative to the center blade.

A road clearing apparatus that is configured to dislodge snow and ice from a surface of a roadway. The road clearing apparatus includes a housing that is operably secured to a rear of a motor vehicle. The housing is manufactured from a rigid material and includes a first end and a second end. The housing has a plurality of apertures that are formed in the top wall and bottom wall, wherein the plurality of apertures are axially aligned. Operably coupled with the plurality of apertures are rod members. The rod members are movable intermediate a first position and a second position wherein in the second position the rod members are extended downward from the housing so as to engage a roadway surface. Actuators are operably coupled to the rod members and are configured to provide movement thereof. A controller is present to provide an operational interface.

A snow plow apparatus including at least one pivotable plow wing that is capable of removing snow or debris adjacent to a vehicle. The pivotable plow wing is operable to deploy from a stowed configuration behind the vehicle to a deployed configuration where the plow wing substantially extends beyond a side of the vehicle and is in contact with a surface to be plowed to remove snow adjacent to the footprint of the vehicle. Once deployed, the pivotable wing is configurable to direct snow or debris away from or toward the vehicle by adjusting the angle of the plow wing relative to the direction of travel of the vehicle. The snow plow apparatus includes powered actuators and an electronic control unit that coordinate to operate the snow plow apparatus without the need for an operator to manually deploy, stow, or position the snow plow apparatus.

A road clearing apparatus that is configured to dislodge snow and ice from a surface of a roadway. The road clearing apparatus includes a housing that is operably secured to a rear of a motor vehicle. The housing is manufactured from a rigid material and includes a first end and a second end. The housing has a plurality of apertures that are formed in the top wall and bottom wall, wherein the plurality of apertures are axially aligned. Operably coupled with the plurality of apertures are rod members. The rod members are movable intermediate a first position and a second position wherein in the second position the rod members are extended downward from the housing so as to engage a roadway surface. Actuators are operably coupled to the rod members and are configured to provide movement thereof. A controller is present to provide an operational interface.

A plow mounts to a vehicle and includes a plow blade defining a longitudinal direction and having a forward surface configurable at a first position with the plow blade transverse to the direction of travel and a second position with the plow blade oblique to the direction of travel. First and second box ends are at ends of the plow blade, extending transversely to the plow blade, each of the first and second box ends having a first straight edge, a second straight edge, and a recess intermediate the first and second straight edges. The box ends rotate between a first position with a first straight edge extending forward horizontally proximate the bottom of the plow blade; a second position with a second straight extending rearward horizontally proximate the bottom of the plow blade, and a third position with the first and second straight edges raised.

A reconfigurable material moving attachment for a vehicle includes a blade having a blade working face directed toward a front of the blade; and a coupling mechanism for reversibly mounting the blade to the vehicle. The coupling mechanism includes a first coupling portion fixed to the blade and a second coupling portion attachable to the vehicle. The second coupling portion is releasably interconnectable with the first coupling portion in: (i) a forward pushing configuration, in which the blade working face is directed away from the vehicle for pushing of the blade during forward operation of the vehicle to collect and push material in a material collection space adjacent the blade working face, and (ii) a back-dragging configuration, in which the blade working face is directed toward the vehicle for pulling of the blade during reverse operation of the vehicle to collect and back drag material in the material collection space.
