A vertical manhole apparatus for use in a waste facility to provide access to one or more leachate collection pipe access points. The vertical manhole is stabilized using stabilizing features extending out from a vertical pipe of the vertical manhole apparatus.

A cover device includes a cover plate having a body portion with inner and outer surfaces. A deployable retainer mechanism is positioned on the inner surface of the cover plate and includes a plurality of engagement features operable between retracted and deployed positions. An adjustment mechanism interconnects the deployable retainer mechanism and the cover plate, wherein the adjustment mechanism includes a portion thereof that is accessible from the outer surface of the cover plate for moving the plurality of engagement features between the retracted and deployed positions.

Each of the legs has an upper end and a lower end and each end has one of a pair of thee plates attached thereto. A drive assembly is mounted on the frame and is mechanically coupled to the legs. The drive assembly is actuated in a first direction moving the lower ends away from each other and in a second direction moving the lower ends toward each other. A lift ring is attached to the frame to be engaged with a cable to lift the frame when the plates are positioned under the adjustment ring.

A manhole adjustment ring removal assembly includes a frame. A pair of legs is pivotally coupled to the frame. Each of the legs has an upper end and a lower end and each end has one of a pair of the plates attached thereto. The plates each have an outer edge extending outwardly away from a corresponding one of the legs. The outer edges taper to point and are extendable between an adjustment ring and a cone base. A drive assembly is mounted on the frame and is mechanically coupled to the legs. The drive assembly is actuated in a first direction moving the lower ends away from each other and in a second direction moving the lower ends toward each other. A lift ring is attached to the frame to be engaged with a cable to lift the frame when the plates are positioned under the adjustment ring.

A lifting and moving device, and a method of using the device comprising a frame having a first ground engaging end with at least one wheel for providing a movable first ground engagement and a second ground engaging end with a pointed end for providing a fixed second ground engagement for the frame. A lifting and moving support extending between the first and second ground engaging ends is adjustable in length for providing one or more distances between the first ground engaging end and the second ground engaging end. A lifting device is retractable from a position on the support and the frame is movable about a pivot point provided by the second ground engaging end.

In some embodiments, while the manhole cover is removed, the self-driving vehicle is used to automatically place a tool above or within the manhole. Accordingly, a self-driving vehicle can automatically inspect, repair, or maintain manholes that are positioned in roadways. The data can then automatically be gathered without human intervention.

An improved manhole alignment and locking assembly for use with a manhole removal tool. The locking and removal assembly provides for a portable adjustable manhole interior engagement plate, that once positioned and locked, provides for alignment of the manhole cutting and removal tool and subsequent lifting and transportation of the manhole from the street for repair or replacement.

A manhole cover lifting tool is disclosed. The tool comprises an elongate body and a shaft which is arranged to slide relative the body. The tool further comprises coupling means for slidably coupling a proximal region of the shaft with the body and means disposed at a distal region of the shaft for detachably coupling the shaft with a manhole cover, such that the shaft is restricted to slide through a pre-defined range along the body.
