An H-beam joint structure for joining ends of H-beam steel materials adjacent to each other. The steel materials have a flange and a web. The joint structure includes: a transmission plate arranged parallel to a front surface of the web on at least one side of the web of the H-beam and the steel material, and welded to a back surface of the flange; and a coupling plate provided in close contact with the transmission plate to connect the H-beam and the steel material. A web of the H-beam, the web of the steel material and the transmission plate are bolted via the coupling plate. As a result, there is provided an H-beam joint structure which has a joining strength equivalent to a conventional joint structure for an H-beam, and also which can easily be constructed to have less parts and make front surfaces of the flanges flat.

A perimeter frame used in a construction of floors or roofs of buildings, including three superior radial sub-frames, three inferior radial sub-frames, and six non-perpendicularly interconnecting top hat sub-frames, wherein each superior radial sub-frame is located between a pair of inferior radial sub-frames such that there is a 60° angle between the first and second longitudinal axes of any two adjacent radial sub-frames, and wherein the innermost blunt end portions of the superior radial sub-frames are interconnected to define a primary hexagon structure at a centre of the perimeter frame, and the innermost blunt end portions of the inferior radial sub-frames are connected to a converging region of adjoining surfaces of each adjacent pair of superior radial sub-frames to define a secondary hexagon structure around the primary hexagon structure, and wherein the overhang end portions and the outermost blunt end portions define six corners of a hexagonal perimeter frame.

HOLLOW STRUCTURAL SECTION CONNECTOR AND METHODS OF USE OF SAME

A bracket includes a first wing, a second wing and a bridge that connects the first wing to the second wing. The first wing has a first inner surface and a first outer surface. The second wing has a second inner surface and a second outer surface. The bridge extends from the first inner surface to the second inner surface thereby coupling the first wing to the second wing such that the first inner surface is normal to a first direction, and the first inner surface is parallel to the second inner surface. The bridge includes a front edge and a rear edge. The front edge forms a recess that extends into the bridge towards the rear edge along a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction, and the recess terminates within the bridge prior to reaching the rear edge.

DEVICES AND SYSTEMS FOR DISPLACEMENT CONTROL IN SEISMIC BRACES AND YIELDING LINKS

A yielding seismic element includes one or more displacement control elements connected to a yielding element. The yielding element is designed to deform under seismic forces. When the yielding element experiences an instance of local deformation, the displacement control elements interact with a displacement restraint fixed relative to the yielding element. The displacement restraint prevents further deformation at the instance of local deformation.

Blast, ballistic and forced entry resistant shelter

The present anti-ballistic shelter is a reinforced unit configured to comply with both ISO standards for size and weight, and with the U.S. Department of State Certification Standard for Forced Entry and Ballistic Resistance of Structural Systems. Each end and side wall of the unit is reinforced with wall studs that penetrate the unit's structural framework. Even though these wail studs are welded into place, penetration of the wall studs into the framework ensures acceptable blast, ballistic, and forced entry resistance even if the welds are flawed.

Real-time structural damage detection by convolutional neural networks

Certain embodiments may generally relate to structural damage detection. An embodiment may be directed to method for identifying a presence and a location of structural damage. Such method may include training a convolutional neural network (CNN) for a joint of a structure, sending instructions to a modal shaker to induce an input to the structure, receiving, as a result of the induced input, a raw acceleration signal at the joint, computing, based on the trained CNN and the raw acceleration signal, an index value of the joint, and identifying, according to the index value, a presence of a location of structural damage of the structure. In a further embodiment, the index value represents a likelihood of damage at the joint.
