MEMBRANE ASSEMBLIES WITH SEALING FAULT DETECTION AND LOCATION, AND RELATED METHODS
A water-impermeable membrane assembly, having leak alarm capabilities and useful for sealing a roof surface, comprises upper and lower water-impermeable membranes sealed to each other at respective perimeters to form a plenum enclosed from above and below with area defined by the perimeter sealing, a leak-alarm circuit within the plenum, activatable by the presence of water, a leak-alarm target in the circuit being operative to trigger activation of the leak-alarm circuit when in contact with water, and a capillary pathway disposed within the plenum in contact with the leak-alarm target, to provide a pathway for transport of water by capillary action to the leak-alarm target. The leak-alarm circuit comprises a transmitter for transmitting a signal when activated, and a battery for powering the transmission of the signal. A ratio of leak-alarm target footprint to plenum area is less than 0.05.
Edifice sealing web, and process for manufacturing same
An edifice sealing web that includes a sealing web facing away from the edifice, an adjoining barrier layer which extends on the side facing the edifice and is based on mixtures of homopolyamides and/or copolyamides, and a self-adhesive layer.
Composite, structural, insulative board
A structural sheathing board has multiple functional benefits with respect to structural support, insulation and moisture barrier. A rigid expanded polystyrene core layer has a structural layer laminated to one face thereof and a facer layer laminated to its other face. Each of the structural and facer layers has a water resistant barrier layer laminated to the outside thereof. The water resistant barrier repels liquid water, but in one example, it may allow water vapor to pass through it.
Roof mounting system
A roof mount assembly mounts a structure to a roof having a rafter and a substrate supported by the rafter. The roof mount assembly includes a piece of flashing positioned on the substrate. The flashing includes a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface and an aperture extending through the flashing. A fastener extends through the flashing aperture. A bracket is connected to the flashing via the fastener, and the bracket is sized to support at least one roof-mounted structure on the roof. A seal is positioned between the flashing aperture and the fastener. The seal is sized to form a water-tight seal with the aperture to inhibit flow of fluid through the aperture. The seal includes a first portion and a second portion, in which the first portion is positioned to abut the flashing first surface and the second portion is positioned to extend through the aperture.
IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO PRE-APPLIED MEMBRANES
A laminated pre-applied membrane is provided. The membrane comprises a layer of polyethylene and a rubber or rubber-based layer.
PANEL FOR SHEATHING SYSTEM AND METHOD
The panel includes a water resistant barrier layer secured atop its outward facing surface. The water resistant barrier layer includes a skid resistant surface. The panels are made of lignocellulosic material. The water resistant and skid resistant surface may include indicia for aligning strips of tape or for aligning fasteners. A method for manufacturing the water resistant building panels is also disclosed and includes the steps of feeding paper onto a forming belt, depositing lignocellulosic material and the binding agent onto the forming belt so as to form a lignocellulosic mat, applying heat and pressure so as to impart the skid resistant surface on the paper, and cutting panels to predetermined sizes.
SUPPORT FOR SEALING AROUND A BUILDING PENETRATION
A method of sealing around a penetration that extends out of a wall of a building with structural members separated by spaces. A weather barrier is installed across the structural members of the wall such that the weather barrier defines a wall surface and the penetration extends past the wall surface. A backer support is installed behind the weather barrier and adjacent to the penetration. The penetration is sealed to the weather barrier by applying a sealing material around the penetration, the backer support being sufficiently rigid to support the weather barrier and the sealing material against pressure applied during installation.
Moisture barrier molding to reduce water damage on walls
A moisture barrier molding having a divider portion and a pair of attachment surfaces extending laterally and generally perpendicularly from both sides of the divider portion. One of the attachment surface having a plurality of aeration holes; each aeration hole having a tab extending perpendicularly therefrom so as to create a plurality of tabs which are placed on top of a baseboard so as to create a gap between the baseboard and the divider portion so as to allow air to pass through the aeration holes.
Transparent composite material as cladding material for architectural features in building construction
A composite material may be used as a building material to provide desirable visible aesthetics, such as in a roof or facade. The composite material may include two or more materials, wherein a first material provides desirable qualities for appearance and a second material provides desirable qualities for strength or other characteristics desirable of a building material. Each of the first material and the second material may be transparent, such that the composite material is also transparent. The first material may be Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) and the second material may be Polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
CONSTRUCTION FOIL
The invention relates to a construction foil (16), especially roof film, roofing foil, flat roof sheeting, fa-cade sheeting and/or vapor barrier and/or sub-roofing sheeting, especially underlayment and/or sarking sheeting, with a single- or multilayer layer structure (17). It is provided according to the invention that at least one moisture sensor (1) for detecting moisture is associated to the construction foil (16), that the moisture sensor (1) is designed as an active pick-up, and that the moisture sensor (1) comprises at least one electrode (18) and/or a humidity sensing element, and the electrode (18) and/or the humidity sensing element is in direct contact with a nonwoven layer (19).
