20230137084 · 2023-05-04 ·

A wound healing composition is provided that includes a tissue adhesive or epithelial tissue healing agent and metal-modified cerium oxide nanoparticles (mCNPs). The nCNPs have a predominant 3+ surface charge and are in a range of about 3-35 nanometers (nm) in size and mixed in an amount that is in a range of about 0.01 to 0.1 weight percentage of a mixture having the tissue adhesive or epithelial tissue healing agent and the mCNPs. The metal (m) is a stable metallic metal with antimicrobial properties and non-ionizing. The mCNPs includes AgCNP2. A method is provided that uses the healing composition to treat a wound or epithelial tissue. The composition can be used to treat the skin or eye and/or subcutaneous tissue.

Tissue thickness compensator

In various embodiments, a tissue thickness compensator can comprise one or more capsules and/or pockets comprising at least one medicament therein. In at least one embodiment, staples can be fired through the tissue thickness compensator to rupture the capsules. In certain embodiments, a firing member, or knife, can be advanced through the tissue thickness compensator to rupture the capsules.

FABRIC COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING ATTACHED ZEOLITE AND/OR A ZEOLITE/PECTIN COMPLEX

The invention relates to fabric compositions with improved hemostatic properties comprising attached a zeolite, a zeolite/pectin complex, or a mixture thereof, and methods of preparing such fabric compositions.

20220288273 · 2022-09-15 ·

The present invention relates in part to a hydrogel composition and a method of fabricating the hydrogel composition comprising the steps of providing a solution comprising a polymer comprising crosslinkable groups; providing a solution comprising a crosslinking agent; mixing the solution comprising a polymer comprising crosslinkable groups and the solution comprising the crosslinking agent to form a combined solution; and crosslinking the combined solution. The invention also relates in part to a methods of treatment using the hydrogel composition.

Antimicrobial platelet-like particles

Disclosed herein are platelet-like particles incorporating antimicrobial metallic nanoparticles. The platelet-like particles include an ultra-low crosslinked polymeric microgel and fibrin targeting moiety. The antimicrobial metallic nanoparticles can be covalently or noncovalently incorporated into the platelet-like particles. The particles are useful to stop bleeding and to promote wound healing while at the same time suppressing bacterial infections that can accompany tissue damage.

Stain Hiding Fabric With Metallic Coating

This invention relates to a method for hiding stains in medical dressings and other textile substrates. The method includes applying a metallic silver coating to a textile substrate via a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVP) process. The metallic silver coating effectively hides any stain that comes into direct contact with the treated substrate by transferring the liquid beneath the surface of the coating. The invention also relates to textile substrates containing metallic silver coatings.

ANTIMICROBIAL BIOCOMPATIBLE CO-DOPED MAGNESIUM OXIDE NANOCOMPOSITE COMPOSITIONS

Described herein are co-doped magnesium oxide nanocomposites with antimicrobial properties for industrial and biomedical applications. Methods of inhibiting microbial and/or eliminating microbial growth with the disclosed compounds on biological and inanimate surfaces are also described.

Wound care product

The present invention pertains to use of sodium diacetate (NaHAc.sub.2) as an antimicrobial agent against bacteria growing in biofilms. The aspects of the invention include a wound care product comprising sodium diacetate, a kit comprising a wound care product, and a method of treating an infected wound.

Nanofibrous scaffolds to heal chronic skin wounds

In some embodiments, a method of fabricating a skin wound patch includes preparing a biopolymeric solution comprising chitosan, collagen, chondroitin sulfate, elastin, hyaluronic acid, follistatin-like 1 (FSTL-1), iron oxide nanoparticles, and AC2-26 peptide, filtering the biopolymeric solutions through a filter membrane, extruding the biopolymeric solution through an extrusion device to form a nanofibrous composite, collecting the extruded nanofibrous composite on a sterilized plate, and drying the extruded nanofibrous composite into a solid patch. In some embodiments, a skin wound patch includes homogeneously distributed biomolecules, skin materials, pro-inflammatory, and antibacterial agents. In further embodiments, a method of treating a chronic skin wound in a subject in need thereof can include applying any of the patches described herein.
