The antiseptic mixture includes a persulfate distributed in a matrix of a sulfate wherein the antiseptic composition is characterized by a ratio of the sulfate to the persulfate of at least 8:2. The antiseptic polymer is formed by the reaction of a sulfate, a persulfate, and amino acid in a reaction solution having a ratio of the sulfate to the persulfate of at least 6:4 and a ratio of the amino acid to the sulfate and the persulfate combined of 1:2 to 2:1. An antiseptic irrigation solution is disclosed including the antiseptic composition dispersed in a solvent. An antiseptic article is disclosed including an article and at least one of the antiseptic composition or an antiseptic coating formed from the antiseptic composition disposed on a surface of the article.
Binary odor control system for absorbent articles
Cellulosic pulp structures integrating unreacted quantities of an inorganic peroxide and a destabilizing acid, as binary components of an odor control system, absorbent articles incorporating such structures, and various methods of forming the same, are disclosed herein. The components are adapted to react in the presence of an aqueous fluid to produce hydrogen peroxide, thereby providing an antimicrobial and odor mitigating effect.
CRYOGEL BIOSCAFFOLD
A three-dimensional oxygen-generating bioscaffold capable of supplying cells with a continuous, controlled, and steady source of oxygen and methods of using such an oxygengenerating bioscaffold to prevent hypoxia-induced damage to cells following transplantation are disclosed. In particular, a collagen-based cryogel bioscaffold having calcium peroxide (CPO) incorporated into its matrix is provided, wherein the CPO produces oxygen upon exposure to water. The collagen-based cryogel is designed with a plurality of macropores capable of encapsulating therapeutic cells for cellular therapy. Methods of producing oxygen-generating bioscaffolds and tissue grafts comprising therapeutic cells contained in such oxygen-generating bioscaffolds as well as their use in cellular therapy are also disclosed.
Method for Treating Tissue
Methods for treating tissue are provided. In one embodiment, an adjunct material, when secured to tissue, can receive at least one physiological element released from the tissue during healing progression of the tissue, and can exhibit first and second stiffnesses in compression that are approximately constant during first and second time periods from contact with the tissue, with the second stiffness decreasing with time as a function of at least one of oxidation, enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis, and change of pH resulting from interaction with the at least one physiological element. In another embodiment, the adjunct can receive a unit volume of fluid that causes first and second portions of the adjunct to expand according to first and second expansion behaviors that differ from one another to apply different pressures to the tissue.
ODOR-INHIBITING COMPOSITIONS AND HYGIENIC ARTICLES INCORPORATING THE SAME
Disclosed herein are embodiments of odor-inhibiting compositions and hygienic articles incorporating the same. In some embodiments, an odor-inhibiting composition comprises water-absorbing polymer particles; a first odor control agent comprising a chelation agent; and a second odor control agent.
ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION WITH PROCOAGULANT, IMMUNOMODULATORY, AND TISSUE REGENERATIVE PROPERTIES
The present disclosure relates to a novel composition of antimicrobial and procoagulant agents and methods of using the composition for inhibiting and treating microbial growth at wound sites, inhibiting and treating microbial infections (e.g., bacterial, fungal, viral, parasitic) at wound sites, modulating excessive local and endemic immune reaction, inhibiting microbial infections in biofilms at wound sites, downregulating initial microbial infection at wound sites, preventing cell lysis associated with microbial biofilms at wound sites, inactivating bacterial toxins at wound sites, skin and mucous membranes, preventing the loss of injured extremities, preventing septic shock, reducing superficial bleeding from wounds, promoting tissue regeneration, and promoting the healing of wounds.
PREPARATION METHOD OF CALCIUM PEROXIDE-MEDIATED IN SITU CROSSLINKABLE HYDROGEL AS A SUSTAINED OXYGEN-GENERATING MATRIX, AND BIOMEDICAL USE THEREOF
A preparation method of calcium peroxide-mediated in situ crosslinkable hydrogel as a sustained oxygen-generating matrix, includes: a) reacting a natural or a synthetic polymer with Traut's reagent (TR) in a solvent, and synthesizing a polymer derivative having thiol group in backbone of the polymer derivative; and b) mixing and reacting a solution of the polymer derivative having thiol group with calcium peroxide (CaO.sub.2), and thereby forming a hydrogel, wherein in the step b), disulfide bonds (—S—S) are induced between backbones of the polymer derivative having thiol group attached by decomposition of calcium peroxide (CaO.sub.2), and thereby in situ crosslinking is formed.
