WALL SHEATHING WITH PASSIVE ENERGY DISSIPATION
20180038104 · 2018-02-08 ·

A corrugated sheet metal wall sheathing for resisting external excitations such as wind or earthquake of light-framed wall structures. The sheathing has sheet profile proportioned to insure the top flutes deform laterally and yield at the end of the flute before the onset of any failure mode. A transverse slot in included ineach top flute and adjacent web of the sheathing and spaced at intervals along the length of the sheathing.

Prefabricated wall assemblies for the construction of buildings have a corrugated panel and preferably include at least one backside panel. The corrugated panel has one or more vertical channels and several horizontal channels. The vertical channels extend the entire panel height and are recessed from the front face. The horizontal channels extending the entire panel width and are also recessed from the front face so they intersect with the vertical channel. The horizontal channels are almost as wide as the vertical channels, and are greater than one-half the vertical channel width. The backside panel is connected to the corrugated panel to form a structural panel assembly. The backside panel can be a shear panel or other backside flat panel, a backside corrugated panel symmetrically mirroring the corrugated panel, a backside corrugated panel asymmetrically mirroring the corrugated panel, a sandwiched corrugated panel, a relief panel or any combination thereof.

Process for manufacturing a panel comprising at least one honeycomb body and a first skin made from a composite material

The invention relates to a process for manufacturing a sandwich panel comprising a step to bake a stacked structure (16) provided with: a honeycomb body (2); a film (12) pre-impregnated with a first resin with a polymerization temperature T1; and a first stack (18) of fiber layers pre-impregnated with a second resin with a polymerization temperature T2 greater than T1, the film being arranged between the first stack and the body. The baking step comprises a first phase designed to use the film (12), to create a rigid barrier providing a seal from the second resin by polymerization of said first resin, followed by a second phase designed to produce the skin starting from the stack (18), by polymerization of the second resin.

METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A MOLDED DOOR SKIN FROM A FLAT WOOD COMPOSITE, DOOR SKIN PRODUCED THEREFROM, AND DOOR MANUFACTURED THEREWITH
20170021532 · 2017-01-26 ·

A method of manufacturing a hollow core door is disclosed, as wall as a corresponding hollow core door. The method includes the steps of providing a solid flat door skin, moisturizing the flat skin, applying a conditioning resin thereto, pre-heating the flat door skin, and thereafter pressing the flat door skin between a pair of heated platens in a press in order to reform the flat skin into a molded skin including a plurality of panels defined therein. The press continuously closes in order to reform the flat skin into the molded skin, with the rate of press closure being a function of the determined hardness of the flat skin to be reformed. The resulting door skins have an improved bond strength, and are efficiently manufactured.

INSULATION WALL AND INSULATION PLATE FOR CONSTRUCTING THE INSULATION WALL
20170009449 · 2017-01-12 · ·

An insulation wall is constructed from insulation plates. The edge sides of the insulation plates are provided with edge connecting elements such as a tongue, a groove or a ridge for forming a tongue and groove joint or a half lap joint between adjacent insulation plates in the insulation wall. At least one drainage channel is provided through the insulation wall for draining away moisture that has penetrated between the insulation plates into the insulation wall. This at least one drainage channel includes adjoining drainage channel sections which are provided in the longitudinal direction on the edge connecting elements of the interconnected insulation plates.

The present disclosure includes a prefabricated wall panel that is made from materials which are otherwise waste products in the agricultural and forestry industry. Each wall panel includes lateral and longitudinal channels with a step in the sidewalls thereof to accommodate installation of various items. Some of the sidewalls may also include an additional step further recessed into the channel to accommodate other items. Regardless of the number channels and steps therein, the wall panels are also devoid of any shear sharp corner, such that a curved section is provided between each transition to allow for easier manufacturing with composite materials.
