Heat-managing composite structures

Light-weight, heat-managing structures feature open-cell lattice, honeycomb, and/or corrugated (prismatic) arrangements in their substructures, combined with heat pipe/heat plate arrangements for managing heat to which the structures are subjected. The structures are well suited to aerospace applications and may be employed in the leading edge of wings or other airfoil-shaped components; gas turbine engine components; rocket nozzles; and other high-heat, high-stress environments.

Stiffened frame supported panel

Frame supported panels with an increased load carrying capacity derived from inducing newly discovered conditions on panels made from weaker, lighter and thinner materials. The fixed/continuous/dropped condition can increase a panel's load capacity many times based on the panel's interaction with frame members. This enables foam panels, for example, to be used in structural applications. It also enables polyurethane foam with any cladding to provide a comprehensive, structural building panel that provides a finished exterior, continuous and cavity insulation, an air, moisture and vapor barrier and increased uplift resistance while eliminating condensation and thermal expansion/contraction.

PANEL AND PANEL STRUCTURE FOR VENTILATION AND BOTH REACTIVE AND DISSIPATIVE SOUND DAMPENING

A passive ventilation panel and system, in particular for use in doors, ceilings, walls and partitions enables an exchange of supply and return air for at least one room or a room, without the need for additional ventilation equipment, such as ducts, and without the needs to install wall openings or grills for the supply and exhaust air in the space.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTERLOCKING STRUCTURAL MEMBERS

A panel structure includes panel members that may be connected together using friction stir welding, Each of the panel members includes a first plate, a second plate substantially in parallel to said first plate, and at least one webbing member connecting the first plate and the second plate. The first plate of the first panel member includes a flange positioned in abutment with a flange located on the first plate of the second panel member. The flange of the first panel member includes a projection and the flange of the second panel member includes a groove. The panel members are connected so that the projection is engaged with the groove to thereby resist relative lateral movement that would separate the panel members.

Building Construction Element for Efficient Erection of a Building
20180023293 · 2018-01-25 ·

A building construction element for the efficient erection of a building is disclosed. The construction element is attached to other construction elements to form a structure or positioned around a structure to provide protection behind the series of construction elements. The construction element includes a plurality of interlocking supports, a first coupling bracket, a second coupling bracket, an interior-wall sheet, and an exterior-wall sheet. Each of the interlocking supports engage at least one other interlocking support to form a wall. The first coupling bracket and the second coupling bracket secure the plurality of interlocking supports together. The interior-wall sheet and the exterior-wall enclose the plurality of interlocking supports, the first coupling bracket, and the second coupling bracket in order to reduce heat and sound transfer through the construction element.

Metal to Frame Structural Insulated Panel (M2SIP)

The panel, a new build process using a steel channel frame outer band. It is joined with wood framing studs, screwed into the outer band for durability and stability. The panel's vertical studs provide strength during the manufacturing process. All panels are combined with one Universal Receptacle, a metal utility box supporting electrical, water lines securing the panel base structure to concrete. The box is also used to mate panel-to-panel. The panels are joined internally with expanded polystyrene foam for soundproofing and thermal insulation protection. The panel's outer covering is oriented strand board, secured to the front and back of the finished product. In the lower right side front oriented strand board, a pre-cut beveled slot is used to provide for electrical wiring, water lines and also secures the panel to the foundation. All panel components are constructed identically in depth, height, and can be configured into any floor plan.

CELL STRUCTURE FOR COMPOSITE SANDWICH CORE AND METHOD OF MAKING SANDWICH PANELS

A core layer, a core cell and a method for making the core layer for a panel structure. The core layer includes multiple core cells, and a carrier fabric. The multiple core cells are bonded to the carrier fabric. A panel structure is made by situating between and bonding the core layer to a pair of face sheets. A core cell has multiple interconnected cross structures that each has two crossing struts. Each of the crossing struts has a first end and a second end. The first ends of each cross structure cross the first ends of an adjacent cross structure, and the second ends of each cross structure cross the second ends of an adjacent cross structure.

Work-station

A work-station utilizes sound absorbing, translucent enclosure panels that allows light from outside of the work-station to enter. The translucent enclosure panels have an outside panel, and intermediate panel and an inside panel of a translucent plastic sheet material that form cells for dampening sound transmission through the enclosure panels. The inside panel has a plurality of apertures to allow sound to enter and be dissipated within the internal cells. A sound masking device is configured within the work-station and projects a dampening sound into the work-station, such as along the opening to work-station to produce a masking sound curtain for sound entering the work-station.

A single plenum structural panel comprising a top sheet and a bottom sheet. The top sheet and the bottom sheet being parallel to one another. A plurality of spacing structural elements fixedly attach the top sheet to the bottom sheet, such that a yield strength of an assembled single plenum structural panel is greater than a sum of individual yield strengths of the top sheet and the bottom sheet. A plenum is defined by a spacing between the top sheet and the bottom sheet. The plurality of spacing structural elements are formed such that a first plurality of spaced apart unobstructed pathways are created in the plenum for air to move in a first direction from at least one edge of the single plenum structural panel to at least one of an opposite and an adjacent edge of the single plenum structural panel.
