SUBMUCOSAL LIFTING AND HEMOSTATIC SEALING HYDROGEL
In some aspects, the present disclosure pertains to injectable polysaccharide-based hydrogels that comprises an anionic polysaccharide, a cationic crosslinking agent and a hemostatic agent. In some aspects, the present disclosure pertains to medical devices containing such injectable polysaccharide-based hydrogels, to kits that contain such injectable polysaccharide-based hydrogels, and to methods of using such injectable polysaccharide-based hydrogels.
FIREARM TRIGGER MECHANISM
A trigger mechanism that can be used in AR-pattern firearms has a hammer, a trigger member, a disconnector, a locking member, and a “three position” safety selector having safe, standard semi-automatic, and forced reset semi-automatic positions. In the standard semi-automatic position, rearward movement of the bolt carrier causes rearward pivoting of the hammer such that the disconnector hook catches the hammer hook, at which time a user must manually release the trigger member to free the hammer from the disconnector to permit the hammer and trigger member to pivot to the set positions so that the user can pull the trigger member to fire the firearm. In the forced reset semi-automatic position, rearward movement of the bolt carrier causes rearward pivoting of the hammer causing the trigger member to be forced to the set position, the safety selector preventing the disconnector hook from catching the hammer hook, and thereafter when the bolt carrier reaches the substantially in-battery position the user can pull the trigger member to fire the firearm without manually releasing the trigger member. The locking member is pivotable between a first position at which the locking member mechanically blocks the trigger member from moving to the released position and a second position at which the locking member does not mechanically block the trigger member allowing the trigger member to be moved to the released position. The locking member is spring biased toward the first position and moved against the spring bias to the second position by contact from the bolt carrier during forward movement of the bolt carrier as the bolt carrier reaches a substantially in-battery position.
DRESSINGS COMPRISING PLATELET LYSATE
A dressing comprises a delivery vehicle and platelet lysate. The dressing can also include an antimicrobial agent, a hemostatic agent, and a binder. It is contemplated that the dressing can be used for expediting hemostasis, improving antimicrobial activity, minimizing fluid loss, and accelerating wound healing when applied to a wound. The dressing would be useful in applications including military in-theater medical care and for conditions such as diabetic foot ulcers, as well as other applications.
COMPOSITE MATERIAL FOR RAPID BLOOD CLOTTING AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF
A composite material for rapid blood clotting and its preparation method are provided. The composite material includes the following raw materials in parts by weight: 8˜20 parts of chitosan, 7˜14 parts of salicylaldehyde, 8˜16 parts of 2-aminoisonicotinic acid, 1.5˜3.5 parts of ferrous sulfate, 3˜5 parts of dopa, and 10˜15 parts of disodium hydrogen phosphate. The composite material for rapid blood clotting has good stability, high biological safety, significant effects on blood clotting, simple process, and easy industrial production.
Hemostatic paste and methods of making thereof
The present invention is directed to a flowable hemostatic paste comprising a crosslinked carboxymethyl cellulose and at least one non-toxic dispersant. More specifically the present invention relates to a hemostatic paste containing citric acid cross-linked CMC, which is suspended or dispersed as a powder in a mixture of a first non-toxic glycerol-containing hygroscopic dispersant and a second non-toxic alcohol functionalized dispersant comprising propylene glycol or 1,3-butanediol.
METHOD OF IMAGING
The present disclosure relates to a method of imaging, involving administration of a bi-phasic formulation followed by application of high frequency sound waves to identify a region of interest. Following identification, a phase shift of the bi-phasic formulation may be activated by a second administration of high frequency sound waves such that gaseous components of the bi-phasic formulation are enlarged and localised at the region of interest.
THERAPEUTIC VIRAL MICROPARTICLES FOR PROMOTING STENT BIOFUNCTIONALITY AND WOUND HEALING IN VERTEBRATE INDIVIDUALS
The present disclosure provides viral microparticles comprising genetically-engineered baculoviruses (at least partially) embedded in a polymeric matrix for the local delivery of therapeutic nucleic acid molecules to the cells of a vertebrate individual (optionally in combination with a medical implant such as vascular stent platform). The viral microparticles are especially useful for promoting the healing of a wound as well as the repair of a blood vessel and prevent pathological scarring. Also provided herein are processes for making the viral microparticles, pharmaceutical compositions comprising viral microparticles as well as sup-ports comprising the viral micro particles for the locating the viral microparticles in a wound or in the vicinity of a wound.
Process for producing low endotoxin chitosan
The present invention relates to a process for producing a low endotoxin alkali chitosan, and also to a process for producing low endotoxin neutral chitosan, chitosan salt and chitosan derivatives, and to the products of such processes. The process comprises contacting chitosan with an alkali solution to form a mixture and leaving the mixture for at least about 12 hours. The low endotoxin alkali chitosan may be used the manufacture of other useful chitosan based products.
Formed sheet product and hemostatic material
A formed sheet product of a polymer composition comprising at least one protein selected from the group consisting of fibrinogen and thrombin and at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic polyester and a water-soluble polymer, and a laminated formed sheet product comprising a first polymer composition layer composed of fibrinogen and a water-soluble polymer and a second polymer composition layer composed of thrombin and an aliphatic polyester are provided. These formed products are applied onto a wound site and function as a hemostatic material.
SELF-FUELED PARTICLES FOR PROPULSION THROUGH FLOWING AQUEOUS FLUIDS
A simple, self-propelling particle system is disclosed that can deliver a cargo through flowing aqueous solutions. This disclosure provides a non-aqueous composition comprising: (i) particles formed of a carbonate salt and having an average diameter of about 100 μm or less; and (ii) an acid in solid form. The particles may be associated with a cargo molecule or particle. In mouse models of severe hemorrhage, the propelled particles are able to deliver a procoagulant enzyme and halt bleeding.
