A fence panel can be clamped to the foundation using the clamp assemblies by adjusting the clamp assemblies along the width of the step and by adjusting protrusions extending from main bodies of the clamp assemblies in a direction perpendicular to the width of the step.

The base member includes one or more anchors embedded in uncured concrete which, when cured, secures the base member to the stair pan. The upper member is detachably attached to the base member and can serve as both a protective cover during the cast-in-place process and as a tread surface after the cast-in-place process is completed and the stairs are ready for use.

Also disclosed is the method of inserting the temporary tread insert into the stair pan of a stairway framework, where the stair pan includes a bullnose at a front end of the stair pan, and the bullnose has a portion extending laterally a distance into the stair pan. The temporary tread insert includes a notched surface. The method includes positioning the temporary tread insert above a bottom of the pan, inserting the notched end of the temporary tread insert beneath the laterally extending portion of the bullnose, and moving the rear end of the temporary tread insert downward until the notched end of the temporary tread insert engages the underside of the portion extending laterally from the bullnose.

Various advantages can be achieved, including easily mounting of the edge trimmer strip, causing no deterioration to an outside appearance of the edge trimmer strip, and enhancing flexibility of variation of stylish shaping on a top portion of the edge trimmer strip.
