Surgical cassette apparatus

A surgical cassette arrangement is provided. The arrangement includes a flow selector valve configured to operate with a handpiece to selectively irrigate and aspirate fluid with respect to an ocular region. The flow selector valve includes at least three ports, with one port fluidly connectable to the handpiece. The arrangement further includes a reservoir fluidly connected to a second port of the flow selector valve via a first flow segment and configured to receive fluid from the flow selector valve, and a collector fluidly connected to a third port of the flow selector valve via a second flow segment and configured to receive fluid from the flow selector valve and from the reservoir. The flow selector valve selectively controls irrigation and aspiration flow to the handpiece and ocular region.

Automatically switching different aspiration levels and/or pumps to an ocular probe

Methods and apparatuses for automatically switching different aspiration levels to an ocular probe are disclosed herein. The probe may be a phacoemulsification probe. A first aspiration level, supplied by a first pump, may be applied to the probe simultaneously with ultrasonic energy. A second aspiration level, supplied by a second pump, may be automatically switched from the first aspiration level. Control feed back of the pumps may be varied according to set thresholds.

System, Apparatus and Method for Monitoring Anterior Chamber Intraoperative Intraocular Pressure
20190099548 · 2019-04-04 ·

A method for maintaining anterior chamber intraoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) is provided by receiving and/or detecting variables of a surgical system and utilizing those variables to monitor intraoperative IOP. Determining an IOP in real time during a surgical procedure either provides a notification to an eye surgeon or allows a target IOP of the anterior chamber of a patient's eye to be set and maintained.

Systems and Methods for Measuring Fluid Flow in a Venturi Based System

Variables of a surgical system are detected or received via one or more sensors to predict an intraocular pressure (IOP) and/or determine an IOP in real time during a surgical procedure. A notification to a surgeon or a target IOP is set and maintained as determined by Static IOP, dynamic IOP, and/or a total IOP combining both static and dynamic IOP of the anterior chamber of a patient's eye. Information collected about various components of the system are displayed on a user interface. The system uses the collected information to calculate the static IOP and/or dynamic IOP of the system, and the total IOP may be function of the static IOP and/or dynamic IOP measurements.

Advanced Occlusion Management Methods for a Phacoemulsification System

The present invention provides a system for managing occlusions during phacoemulsification surgery. More specifically, the present invention provides a user of a surgical console an alert when a partial or full occlusion of a surgical tool causes the vacuum pressure to become greater than a predetermined pressure threshold setting and automatically reduces the vacuum pressure when the predetermined pressure threshold setting is exceeded.

A system for detecting intraocular pressure events during phacoemulsification surgery having a surgical console, a handpiece having a proximal end being communicatively connected to an irrigation line and an aspiration line; a first sensor in communication with the aspiration line or the irrigation line for providing a first measurement value; and a second sensor in communication with the aspiration line for providing a second measurement value; and wherein at least one characteristic of the irrigation fluid or aspiration fluid in their respective lines is changed in accordance with the difference between the first measurement value and the second measurement value. A system for calibrating patient eye level and wound leakage; detecting occlusion or post occlusion surge; determining BSS usage or remaining in a container; and detecting a fluid line abnormality using a first sensor and a second sensor in different configurations and differences in first and second measurement values.
