Accurate irrigation rate measurement system and method
In one embodiment, an irrigated medical system includes a medical tool, an irrigation line configured to fluidically connect an irrigation reservoir storing irrigation fluid to the medical tool, and provide at least some of the irrigation fluid to the medical tool, a force sensor configured to be coupled with the irrigation reservoir, and provide a signal responsively to a force exerted by the irrigation reservoir on the force sensor over time as irrigation fluid in the irrigation reservoir is depleted, and a controller configured to find an irrigation rate of the irrigation fluid flowing in the irrigation line responsively to the signal.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FACILITATING SURGICAL FLUID MANAGEMENT
A surgical fluid management system includes a console defining a cassette bay and a cassette, including a fluid line extending therethrough, configured for insertion into the cassette bay of the console. The console includes a sensor disposed adjacent the cassette bay configured to detect a position of the cassette relative to the cassette bay to enable selective locking or unlocking of the cassette within the cassette bay. Additionally or alternatively, the console includes cassette bay electronics configured to obtain encoded information from the cassette.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REMOVAL OF BLOOD AND THROMBOTIC MATERIAL
An extension conduit for use with a system for aspirating thrombus includes a passageway extending between a distal end and a proximal end of the extension conduit, and a combined hydraulic and electrical control carried on the extension conduit and configured to be activated by a user to activate an electric switch while opening a valve to allow flow through the passageway.
TREATMENT SYSTEM HAVING GENERATOR AND FLUID TRANSFER CARTRIDGE
A treatment system includes a generator and a fluid transfer cartridge. The fluid transfer cartridge includes a cartridge shell having a cartridge cavity. The cartridge cavity is between a front face and a rear face. A syringe barrel is disposed within the cartridge cavity, and has a syringe cavity. The fluid transfer cartridge includes a cartridge manifold in the cartridge cavity. The cartridge manifold includes a fluid transfer plate having a front fluid channel in a front plate surface, and a rear fluid channel in a rear plate surface. The cartridge manifold includes a fluid port extending through the fluid transfer plate from the front fluid channel to the rear fluid channel. The front fluid channel, the rear fluid channel, and the fluid port are in fluid communication with the syringe cavity. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
Nasal irrigation device and system with faux collapsible cartridge element
A nasal irrigation device communicates an irrigant to a device user and comprises a mechanics module and a reservoir assembly wherein a source of saline comprising a cartridge is disposed within the mechanics module adjacent a lid assembly for piercing the cartridge upon closing of a lid for releasing the cartridge contents into the reservoir assembly. A faux collapsible cartridge for testing operability of a nasal irrigation device comprises a housing including a shaft, a spring biased rod extending from the housing shaft, and a flange depending from a housing wall whereby the rod and flange are disposed to actuate a trigger assembly of the nasal irrigation device.
System and method to augment irrigation pressure and to maintain IOP during post occlusion surge
Variables of a surgical system are detected or received via one or more sensors to predict an intraocular pressure (IOP) and/or determine an IOP in real time during a surgical procedure. A notification to a surgeon or a target IOP is set and maintained as determined by Static IOP, dynamic IOP, and/or a total IOP combining both static and dynamic IOP of the anterior chamber of a patient's eye. Information collected about various components of the system are displayed on a user interface. The system uses the collected information to calculate the static IOP and/or dynamic IOP of the system, and the total IOP may be function of the static IOP and/or dynamic IOP measurements.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CASSETTE IDENTIFICATION AND LOCKOUT
The present invention is generally directed to improved methods, devices, and systems for controlling the use of surgical cassette in a surgical system, comprising a console, a handpiece in communication with the console, a cassette receptacle configured to couple a cassette to the console having a pre-load detection system, and a cassette having a body portion configured to contact the pre-load detection system, wherein an indication from the pre-load detection system identifies the cassette, and wherein the system adjusts one or more settings based on the identified cassette.
Fluid Management Systems and Methods
Fluid management systems are disclosed that include software-controlled, electro-mechanical devices used in combination with single-use or multi-use tubing sets. Functions of the fluid management systems can include fluid pressurization, fluid warming, fluid deficit monitoring (including flow-based and weight-based), suction, fluid collection, and fluid evacuation (including indirect-to-drain and direct-to-drain options). The systems can be configured based on the surgical environment (e.g., operating room or physician office) as well as other user needs and/or preferences.

In-Joint Sensor For A Surgical Fluid Management Pump System
An in-joint pump and control device comprising a pump and an in-joint sensor. The pump is configured to convey fluid to a body joint surgical site. The pump has an algorithm associated therewith to make calculations and to assist in controlling the operation of the pump. The in-joint sensor is operatively associated with the pump by at least a communication member. The in-joint sensor comprises a sheath, an integration member attached to the sheath, a pressure sensor connected to the integration member, and a temperature sensor adjacent the sheath. The pressure sensor is adapted to provide pressure information to the pump via the communication member. The temperature sensor is also adapted to provide temperature information to the pump via the communication member.
