Large intestine contents' diagnosis and acoustic characterization

Systems, kits and methods are provided, which analyze the large intestine content and utilize acoustic signals detected during delivery of water into the large intestine and drained large intestine contents to derive large intestine characteristics such as microbiotal analysis. Systems may include a water delivery unit including a water supply and a nozzle connected thereto, configured to introduce water controllably into a patient's large intestine, and an analysis unit that provides information about the drained contents using optical examination or biological assays. The information may be related to acoustic analysis of signals from acoustic sensors that are attachable to a patient's abdomen. A variety of sensor configurations, positioning options, analysis strategies and large intestine characteristics are presented.

Systems and methods for cleaning body cavities and for endoscopic steering

Systems and methods for cleaning body cavities are presented. Described embodiments include systems for cleaning feces from the lower GI tract. Also provided are systems for steering such a cleaning system, also useful for steering an endoscope or other tool inserted into a body.

Methods of treating a medical condition in a patient include performing a lipectomy of visceral fat to remove a quantity of the visceral fat from the subject. The removal of visceral fat treats the medical condition such that the subject experiences at least a reduction of symptoms of the medical condition.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TREATING FECAL IMPACTION
20240335602 · 2024-10-10 ·

Systems and methods for irrigation devices for treatment of fecal impaction in a patient are contemplated. An irrigation device may comprise a distal portion comprising a disimpaction fluid inlet and a waste vacuum outlet. The disimpaction fluid outlet may be operative to emit a generally annular jet of disimpaction fluid into the anus of the patient so as to disimpact impacted feces associated with the anus. The irrigation device may additionally comprise a waste vacuum inlet configured to receive and remove the disimpacted feces. When the distal portion is placed at and aligned with the anus of a patient, the emitted disimpaction fluid may disimpact feces so that the disimpacted feces may be safely received by the waste vacuum inlet to be safely isolated from the surrounding environment.

A system and method to irrigate a user's auditory canal. A fluid can be dispensed from a reservoir through a fluid path and out through openings of a delivery element into the auditory canal. A pump may be used to facilitate the process of dispensing the fluid. The fluid can be delivered to the user's auditory canal for a predetermined period of time. Such a time period may be user selectable. The discharge from the irrigation is removed from the user's auditory canal via a discharge port located on the delivery element. The discharge exits the delivery element and proceeds to a discharge reservoir via a discharge path. A vacuum may be used to generate a negative pressure to facilitate the removal of the discharge from the auditory canal.

Systems and methods for cleaning body cavities

Systems and methods for cleaning body cavities are presented. Some embodiments reduce size of fecal matter pieces within an evacuation conduit. Some comprise devices and methods for purging an evacuation conduit. Some comprise reduced cross-sectional profiles of a cleaning device. Some protect intestinal tissue by preventing exposure to excessively high and low pressures.

Oral Irrigator

An oral irrigator has a separate high pressure water system and low pressure mouth rinse system to deliver two different fluids to a pick or other accessories. The water system and mouth rinse system are combined in a handle. The pick is connected to the handle. The water system has a blocking valve located in the handle and the mouth rinse system has a hand pump located in the handle. The hand pump sits next to a valve button for closing the blocking valve. When the hand pump is pressed, it presses against the valve button of the blocking valve to shut off the source of high pressure water to the pick. The pressure in the pick drops so that the hand pump can then introduce mouth rinse into the pick. When the hand pump is released, the blocking valve opens up and high pressure water returns to the pick.

An acoustic streaming arrangement supplements irrigation flow to a surgical site. The acoustic streaming arrangement may include an irrigation conduit configured to carry an irrigation fluid to a surgical site, a selectively vibrating flow generator having a sharp edge, and a driving device configured to selectively vibrate the flow generator to create a streaming fluid flow in a direction away from the sharp edge through the irrigation conduit. Systems and methods are also disclosed.

SYSTEMS, APPARATUS, AND METHODS FOR ADMINISTERING A SUBSTANCE

Apparatus, kits, and methods for administering a substance are presented. A device for administering a substance includes an elongated body having a proximal end and a distal end, the elongated body defining an internal chamber extending between the proximal end and the distal end to direct the substance to the distal end, the distal end to connect with a tip, the tip to be at least partially inserted into an orifice of a body lumen of a subject, the tip having a shape configured to reduce leakage of the substance from the orifice upon the at least partial insertion. The tip includes an opening to pass the substance from the internal chamber into the body lumen; and a transducer to emit an ultrasound wave from the tip into the body lumen, thereby administering the substance to tissue in the body lumen.
