Plugging assemblies for plugging cased wellbores
A plugging assembly includes a plug and a setting tool attached directly to the plug, wherein the plug includes an elongate core with an uphole end and a downhole end opposite the uphole end, and a sealing element disposed fully around the core to seal against the casing. The plug additionally includes an anchoring system for anchoring the plug to the casing in a fixed position, a compression fitting disposed around the core at or near the uphole end of the core, and a nose at the downhole end of the core. The setting tool includes an elongate housing extending between an uphole end and a downhole end opposite the uphole end, an open passageway extending from the uphole end to the downhole end of the housing, and the downhole end of the housing is aligned to directly engage the compression fitting of the plug.
3D printed tool with integral stress concentration zone
A subsurface tool adapted to extend within a wellbore includes an integrally formed single-component body that defines an external surface and an internal chamber isolated from the external surface. When the tool is subjected to one or more stresses, a stress concentration is created within a stress zone of the single-component body, the stress zone being adjacent the internal chamber.

Hybrid Slip
A downhole tool having a mandrel and a slip. The mandrel has a mandrel body having a proximate end; a distal end; and an outer surface. The slip is a hybrid slip having a slip shell engaged with a slip core. When the slip shell is engaged with the slip core, at least one break point of the slip shell is aligned with a respective break point of the slip core.
Transforming bridge-to-flow-through frac plug
A transforming bridge-to-flow-through frac plug has a mandrel, a retaining sleeve, a pair of cones, a pair of slips, a packing element, and a keeper ring. The mandrel is concentrically connected within the retaining sleeve, and is constructed of a dissolvable material such that the mandrel is dissolvable through application of a solvent in order to form a big bore flow-through frac plug if removal of the frac plug by milling is not possible. The pair of cones, pair of slips, packing element, and keeper ring are positioned on the exterior of the retaining sleeve in order to secure the frac plug in place after a setting operation, even if the mandrel is dissolved in order to form the big bore flow-through frac plug.
Downhole setting system for use in a wellbore
A downhole tool suitable for use in a wellbore, the tool having a cone mandrel having a dual-cone outer surface. The downhole tool includes a carrier ring disposed around one end of the cone mandrel, and a seal element disposed around the carrier ring. There is a slip disposed around or proximate to an other end of the cone mandrel.
WELLBORE LOGGING
A wellbore assembly includes a cable and a wellbore tool. The wellbore tool is coupled to the downhole end of the cable. The wellbore tool includes a housing, one or more sensors, a packer, and a controller. The one or more sensors are coupled to the housing or to the cable or both. The sensors detect one or more parameters of the wellbore tool or the cable or both. The controller is coupled to the housing. The controller is electrically coupled to one or more sensors and is operationally coupled to the packer. The controller determines, with the wellbore tool parted from the cable and based on information received from the one or more sensors, an indication of the wellbore tool in free fall. The controller activates, based on the determination, the packer to expand the packer and set the wellbore tool on a wall of the wellbore.

Controlled Deformation and Shape Recovery of Packing Elements
A packer assembly includes a mandrel and a packing element disposed about the mandrel. Upper and lower recovery sleeves are disposed about the mandrel and extend between the mandrel and respective upper and lower ends of the packing element. The upper and lower recovery sleeves each have a recovery profile embedded within the packing element. Upper and lower backup assemblies are movably disposed about the respective upper and lower recovery sleeves, adjacent to the respective upper and lower ends of the packing element. The packer assembly includes at least one release mechanism. When setting the packer assembly in a bore, the packing element is axially compressed between the upper and lower backup assemblies to contact the bore wall, and the upper and lower backup assemblies splay outwards. Upon release, the packing element and backup assemblies retract, thereby facilitating retrieval of the packer assembly from the bore.
