20190360159 · 2019-11-28 ·

A composition and method of repairing damaged concrete and asphalt surfaces includes a two-part polymer resin mixture. To effectuate a repair, the damaged portion is cleaned of debris and loose pieces. The two-part polymer resin mixture is mixed onsite and is applied as a protective overlay over the damaged portion. Once cured, the mixture provides a protective layer over the damaged area.

Method for slowing an aircraft using a foamed glass composite runway

A method of slowing an aircraft overrunning a runway, including covering an area adjacent a runway with irregular foamed glass bodies having aspect ratios of about 1:1.9 and diameters of about 10 mm to about 80 mm to define a bed, pouring liquid cement over the foamed glass bodies such that the cement infiltrates at least through the bed, curing the liquid cement to define a composite material of foamed glass bodies in a cementitious matrix, and crushing at least a portion of the composite material with an oncoming aircraft, slowing the aircraft. The composite material is at least 85 volume percent foamed glass bodies. When pouring the cement, the liquid cement flows over and around the foamed glass bodies. The aggregate bodies crush and break up before slip failure occurs when being overrun by an aircraft. The aggregate bodies intersect to define stacking angles of about 35 degrees. The cementitious matrix has a cementitious surface.

PERMEABLE PAVEMENT SYSTEM INCLUDING A PERMEABLE PAVEMENT COMPOSITION AND A RELATED METHOD

A permeable pavement and cured fiber composition and a related method are provided. The permeable pavement composition includes a quantity of pavement material, and a quantity of cured carbon fiber composite material (CCFCM) configured to be added to the pavement material to produce a reinforced composition having improved characteristics. An example of pavement material includes a pervious concrete material. The method includes providing a quantity of pavement material and adding a quantity of cured carbon fiber composite material to the pavement material to produce a reinforced composition having improved characteristics.

Foamed glass composite arrestor beds having predetermined failure modes

An arrestor bed for slowing an oncoming aircraft, including an elongated excavation, a plurality of foamed glass aggregate bodies positioned within the elongated excavation, and a covering positioned over the elongated excavation to define an arrestor bed. The respective foamed glass aggregate bodies are oblong, irregularly shaped bodies and have characteristic stacking angles of about 35 degrees. The arrestor bed has a rapid brittle crushing failure mode under compression.

CEMENT-BASED PERVIOUS PAVEMENT STRUCTURE, MANUFACTURING METHOD AND APPLICATION THEREOF

The present application relates to the technical field of road infrastructure, and provides a cement-based pervious pavement structure, a manufacturing method of the cement-based pervious pavement structure, and an application of the cement-based pervious pavement structure. The cement-based pervious pavement structure includes: a lower structural layer as the base; an upper surfacing layer overlaid on said lower structural layer and including: 1.0-2.0 parts by weight of upper layer (fine) aggregate; 0.40-0.70 part by weight of cement; 0.02-0.03 part by weight of titanium dioxide; 0.03-0.04 part by weight of water reducing agent; 0.001-0.002 part by weight of defoamer. The cement-based pervious pavement structure provided by the present application can provide air purification function taking into account the practical cost.
