Road barrier

A roadway barrier or guard rail system includes a post (12) that passes through the carriage (20) with the carriage (20) being free to move up along the post (12) to dissipate energy during a collision. The carriage (20) is prevented from moving down the post (12) by a stop or restraint (12.60,12.50,12.40,12.30), which is separate from and underneath the carriage (20) and which the carriage (20) abuts, with the stop or restraint (12.60,12.50,12.40,12.30) being located on the post (12).

Guardrail crash absorbing assembly

A guardrail vehicle crash absorbing assembly including a braking structure at a panel joint including a tooth having a cutting portion for making a horizontal cut in a rail panel slidably moving relative to another rail panel.

A highway crash attenuation system having an improved breakaway guardrail post. An improved upper section of Post 1 has an anchor bearing plate with a cooperating stabilizing bolt engaging with the upstream face of the upper post section. The downstream side of the upper post section is provided with split, spaced-apart strut sections which do not obstruct the rear cable pass through notch.

GUARDRAIL TERMINAL

Guardrail, guardrail terminal, and support post designs that improve control of a vehicle during collisions are described. The disclosed designs also reduce the likelihood of intrusion into vehicle systems and the occupant compartment(s). Embodiments include folding and/or flattening of the guardrail and controlling the folded and flattened guardrail to avoid intrusion into the vehicle. Other embodiments include containing the guardrail in an impact head of a guardrail terminal, which also avoids vehicle intrusion.

SOUND ABSORBING GUARD RAIL SYSTEM

A sound absorbing guard rail system for installation at a lateral or median side of a road, the guard rail system having a series of supporting posts, that are preferably vertically oriented, at least one noise absorbing panel that can be mounted to the supporting posts, and a series of longitudinal guard rails mounted on the side of the guard rail system facing the road. The noise absorbing panel comprise a noise absorbing material which is encased in an energy absorbing material provided with openings.

Barrier Construction

The present invention relates to posts, carriages, methods of manufacturing the components and their assembly into a barrier. The invention also includes a Z post attachment includes an attachment tab 8.016 and end engagement flange 8.024, 8.026 adapted to engage the end of the post. The arrangement can include a delineator 8.030 which is skew in relation to the tab 8.016, so as to provide reflector faces 8.032 which face oncoming traffic.

Guardrail crash absorbing assembly

A guardrail crash absorbing assembly including overlapping elongated upstream and downstream rail panels, an impact head for sliding an upstream rail panel relative to a downstream panel when impacted by a vehicle, and a cutting tooth with a cutting tooth portion having a cutting surface and a hook structure for cutting and splitting the downstream rail panel upon vehicle impact on the impact head.

A TRANSITION BARRIER FOR CONNECTING A PERMANENT BARRIER TO A TEMPORARY BARRIER

A transition barrier for transitioning from a permanent median barrier to a temporary median barrier, the transition barrier having: a) a first end; the first end being connectable to the permanent median barrier by a permanent median barrier connector; b) a second end; the second end being connectable to the temporary median barrier by a temporary median barrier connector; c) a transition section defining a transition wall of a predetermined length between the first end and the second end; the transition wall having a top, bottom, front and a back; d) at least one barrier brace proximate the transition wall, for supporting said transition wall; and e) at least one spacer, proximate the back of the transition wall for contact with a surface of the permanent concrete barrier.

A NOISE ABSORBING PANEL FOR USE IN A SOUND ABSORBING GUARD RAIL SYSTEM

A noise absorbing panel for use in a sound absorbing guard rail structure having a series of supporting posts, that are preferably vertically oriented, and a series of longitudinal guard rail beams mounted on the side of the guard rail structure facing the road, wherein the noise absorbing panel is mountable to the two adjacently situated supporting posts.

Apparatus for absorbing energy resulting from vehicle impact

Apparatus positioned at a guardrail lead end portion for absorbing energy resulting from vehicle impact includes an impact terminal, a support structure supporting the impact terminal at or adjacent to a lead end portion of the guardrail and a chute. The guardrail is in frictional engagement with inner chute surfaces and the chute applies torquing forces on the guardrail during passage of the guardrail through the chute to cause twisting of the guardrail and absorb vehicle collision impact energy.
