SURROGATE FOR CONCRETE DIVIDER
Surrogates for roadside objects, such as concrete dividers, can be used for vehicle testing. A surrogate for a concrete divider can have substantially the same size and/or shape as the concrete divider that the surrogate is mimicking. The surrogate can be configured to exhibit substantially the same characteristics as their actual counterpart concrete divider when sensed by one or more vehicle sensors (e.g., cameras, radar sensors, and/or LIDAR sensors). Such surrogates can be used to test autonomous vehicles, one or more vehicle sensors, a vehicle sensor system, and/or one or more vehicle system (e.g., a road departure mitigation system). The surrogates can be configured to withstand being crashed into by a test vehicle without being damaged and without damaging the test vehicle.
Barrier Construction
The present invention relates to posts, carriages, methods of manufacturing the components and their assembly into a barrier. The invention also includes a Z post attachment includes an attachment tab 8.016 and end engagement flange 8.024, 8.026 adapted to engage the end of the post. The arrangement can include a delineator 8.030 which is skew in relation to the tab 8.016, so as to provide reflector faces 8.032 which face oncoming traffic.
A TRANSITION BARRIER FOR CONNECTING A PERMANENT BARRIER TO A TEMPORARY BARRIER
A transition barrier for transitioning from a permanent median barrier to a temporary median barrier, the transition barrier having: a) a first end; the first end being connectable to the permanent median barrier by a permanent median barrier connector; b) a second end; the second end being connectable to the temporary median barrier by a temporary median barrier connector; c) a transition section defining a transition wall of a predetermined length between the first end and the second end; the transition wall having a top, bottom, front and a back; d) at least one barrier brace proximate the transition wall, for supporting said transition wall; and e) at least one spacer, proximate the back of the transition wall for contact with a surface of the permanent concrete barrier.
Apparatus for absorbing energy resulting from vehicle impact
Apparatus positioned at a guardrail lead end portion for absorbing energy resulting from vehicle impact includes an impact terminal, a support structure supporting the impact terminal at or adjacent to a lead end portion of the guardrail and a chute. The guardrail is in frictional engagement with inner chute surfaces and the chute applies torquing forces on the guardrail during passage of the guardrail through the chute to cause twisting of the guardrail and absorb vehicle collision impact energy.

System for illuminating a carriageway in a case of fog
A system for illuminating a carriageway in a case of fog includes a road safety barrier arranged along the carriageway, at least one fog density detecting device arranged along the road safety barrier, and a plurality of light sources borne by the road safety barrier, distributed along the road safety barrier, and oriented for each to emit a light beam having a direction that is transversal to an extension axis of the road safety barrier so as to illuminate signage on the carriageway. A control unit that is connected to the light sources and to the fog density detecting device is configured to activate the light sources when the fog density detecting device detects a fog density value of above a threshold value.
Emergency alert and warning apparatus
The present invention relates to an emergency alert and warning apparatus and, more particularly, to a road emergency alert and warning apparatus which is installed on a median strip or a guide rail of an expressway or the like to alert a driver of a rear vehicle of an emergency situation when a traffic accident occurs during nighttime driving, thereby preventing an additional secondary accident. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the emergency alert and warning apparatus comprises: an operation switch which is installed on a median strip or a guide rail of a road to allow a user to generate an operation signal when a traffic accident occurs; a control unit which receives the operation signal to output a control signal, and transmits or relays traffic accident notification data to another neighboring emergency alert and warning apparatus through a wired or wireless communication; a warning display unit which is installed rearward with respect to a traveling direction of a vehicle and includes a plurality of LEDs that are turned on and off in response to the control signal of the control unit; and a photovoltaic cell which converts solar energy into electric energy, processes the electric energy into a constant voltage through a DC/DC converter, and supplies power.
ONE-PIECE METAL PLATE FOUNDATION WITH INTEGRAL OFFSET PLATE FOR GUARDRAILS AND OTHER STRUCTURES AND GUARDRAIL SYSTEM UTILIZING SAME
A one-piece metal plate foundation suitable for guardrails and other structures includes a longitudinally extending main plate body; a rear flange extending at an angle from at least a longitudinal portion of the main plate body in a first direction at a rear edge of the main plate body; a front flange extending at an angle from a longitudinal portion of the main plate body in a direction opposite the first direction at a front edge of the main plate body; an integral offset spacing plate coupled to a front edge of the main plate body above the front flange and extending laterally forward of the front flange; and a mounting flange extending at an angle from at least a longitudinal portion of the offset spacing plate at a front edge of the offset spacing plate, wherein the mounting flange is configured for mounting of a guardrail.
Spacer for Road Safety Barrier
The present invention provides a spacer for a road safety barrier. The spacer includes a post and a rail connected to the post via an intermediary of the spacer and a connector. The spacer includes a rail support having a front face intended to be fastened to a rail, a rear face intended to be fastened to a post and a flange that connects the front face to the rear face. The front face includes a notch emerging on the upper edge of the front face, the notch includes a connector housing, located in the lower portion of the notch and two convergent lateral edges connecting the connector housing to the upper edge of the front face. The present invention also provides a safety barrier including a spacer and a fabrication kit for a safety barrier.
