SNOW PLOW ASSEMBLY

A snow plow assembly comprises an angle frame adapted to be operably mounted to a vehicle, a quadrant frame, a plow blade mounted to the quadrant frame, a drive link pivotally connected to the angle frame and the quadrant frame at first and second pivot points, respectively, a swing link pivotally connected to the angle frame and the quadrant frame at third and fourth pivot points, respectively, the angle frame, quadrant frame, drive link, and swing link, and the first, second, third, and fourth pivot points defining a four-bar linkage, and a first actuator pivotally connected on one end to the angle frame at a fifth pivot point and pivotally connected on the other end to the drive link at a sixth pivot point, wherein extending the first actuator causes the quadrant frame and hence the plow blade to rotate in a first direction from a neutral position generally perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the vehicle, and retracting the first actuator causes the quadrant frame and hence the plow blade to rotate in a second opposite direction from the neutral position.

A snow plow assembly has a push frame, a lift frame, and a coupling configured to attach the push frame to a lift frame. The coupling attaches the left and right sides of the push frame to the corresponding left and right sides of the lift frame, and each coupling being independently vertically floatable to allow the push frame to float vertically relative to the lift frame, while also allowing the push frame to rotate relative to the lift frame to accommodate for irregular or uneven ground surfaces. The couplings each include a bearing block that extends through an opening in the push frame and a retaining member that extends through an opening in the bearing block for operatively coupling the push frame to the lift frame. The bearing block facilitates distribution of load between the push frame and retaining member to reduce wear on the push frame.

V-SHAPED SNOWPLOW BLADE WITH TRIP EDGE AND PIVOTABLE SNOW SHIELD
20220074155 · 2022-03-10 · ·

A multi-position snowplow blade, a snowplow incorporating the blade and a method of use thereof. The blade includes left and right wings that each having a trip edge pivotally engaged therewith. Each trip edge includes a lower section of a moldboard, a cutting edge, and a snow shield. A biasing assembly biases the trip edge into alignment with an upper section of the moldboard. The trip edges trip when the blade strikes an obstacle on a surface being plowed. When the trip edge trips, it pivots about a horizontal axis and relative to the associated upper section. Each snow shield pivotally engages the lower section of the associated trip edge and pivots relative thereto when the trip edge trips. The pivotal motion of the two snow shields widens a gap therebetween and helps to reduce the possibility of damage to the pivoting trip edges.

V-SHAPED SNOWPLOW BLADE HAVING TRIP EDGES

A V-blade for a snowplow, a snowplow incorporating the V-blade and a method of use thereof. The blade includes left and right wings engaged with one another. A trip edge is provided on each wing and includes a lower section of moldboard, a cutting edge, and a snow shield. Each trip edge engages an upper section of the associated moldboard via a biasing assembly. The biasing assembly biases the trip edge into alignment with the moldboard's upper section and also biases the trip edge towards a central vertical axis. When the V-blade strikes an obstacle on the surface during snow removal, the trip edges individually pivot about a horizontal axis extending along a shaft of the associated biasing assembly. The trip edges subsequently translate linearly along the horizontal axis and away from the vertical axis.

ARTICULATING VEHICLE SNOW PLOW

A vehicle mounted articulating snow plow apparatus is provided for clearing snow from roads and driveways. The snow plow includes a blade assembly having a center blade and an extendable wing blade coupled to each end of the center blade. The blade assembly can be raised and lowered relative to the vehicle and ground surface and can be rotated about a vertical axis. Each extendable blade is independently pivotable relative to the center blade through an arc of greater than one-hundred eighty degrees (180°) about a vertical axis. The blade assembly is extendable and retractable between at least a stowed configuration, wherein the extendable blades extend laterally inboard alongside the center blade, and a linearly extended configuration, wherein the extendable blades are outboard of the center blade. The blade assembly includes an actuation mechanism to pivot the extendable blade relative to the center blade.

CLEARING STRIP FOR USE AT HIGH SPEEDS AND FOR LONG CLEARING STRETCHES

A clearing strip for the clearing shield of a snow plow has a front steel plate and a rear steel plate between which an elastic rubber layer with at least one hard material body embedded in the rubber compound thereof is incorporated by vulcanization. The hard material body is movable relative to the steel plates with elastic deformation of the rubber compound. To better secure the hard material bodies embedded in the rubber compound against uncontrolled fall-out from the clearing strip upon overheating, each individual hard material body is anchored within the clearing strip by an additional anchoring device that does not limit the movability of the hard material bodies relative to the steel plates.
