POWDER DISPERSION METHODS AND DEVICES
A dry powder inhaler includes a powder storage element configured to hold a powdered medicament and an inlet channel receives powdered medicament from the powder storage element that is entrained in an airflow. The inlet channel has a first diameter and defines an opening. The inhaler includes a dispersion chamber that receives the airflow and the powdered medicament from the opening. The dispersion chamber has a second diameter. The inhaler includes an actuator housed within the dispersion chamber. The actuator oscillates within the dispersion chamber when exposed to the airflow to deaggregate the powdered medicament entrained by the airflow passing through the dispersion chamber. A ratio between the first diameter and the second diameter is between about 0.40 and 0.60 such that an audible sound is produced as the actuator oscillates. The inhaler includes an outlet channel through which the airflow and powdered medicament exit the inhaler.
Single high dose dry-powder inhaler and method
A dry-powder inhaler comprising a housing comprising at least one air inlet to a first air passage and a second air passage extending from the first air passage and terminating in a mouthpiece; the housing thereby providing a continuous air passage through the at least one air inlet, the first and second air passages, and the mouth piece; a rigid, fixed, powdered-medicament reservoir comprising a base, the reservoir being associated with the first air passage, and together with the first air passage forming a powder chamber; wherein air passing through the powder chamber travels substantially parallel to an upper surface of the reservoir and powdered-medicament positioned on the base in the reservoir, the upper surface of the reservoir having a surface area, and the reservoir having a volume.
THERAPEUTIC AGENT DELIVERY SYSTEMS HAVING IMPROVED POWDER CONSISTENCY
The present embodiments provide systems and methods suitable for delivering a therapeutic agent to a target site. In some embodiments, the system comprises a container for holding the therapeutic agent, a pressure source, and a catheter in fluid communication with the container. In one embodiment, the system further comprises a first inlet tube disposed at least partially within the container, and a second inlet tube disposed at least partially within the container at a location different than the first inlet tube. Pressurized fluid from the pressure source flows into the container via each of the first inlet tube and the second inlet tube. In other embodiments, a plate is disposed with the container, wherein the plate is able to move vertically within the container during delivery of the therapeutic agent.
Thermal modulation of an inhalable medicament
A thermally modulating inhalable medicament delivery device may deliver an inhalable medicament as an aerosol, vapor, or partial aerosol and partial vapor mixture. The inhalable medicament may be delivered to a target in a subject. Described herein are devices, systems, and methods for delivering an inhalable medicament to a subject.
Test substance administration system for animal experiment
[Subject] A test substance application system for animal experiment capable of administering a required amount of a test substance uniformly and reliably from a nose or a mouth into a nasal cavity or into a lung of an experimental animal is provided. [Means for Solution] The system includes a respiration monitoring device 2 that monitors a respiration state of an experimental animal detected by a respiration pick-up device 1 to thereby measure a timing upon switching from an expiratory phase to an inhalatory phase and outputs a trigger signal T at that timing, and an application device 3 that sprays a predetermined amount of a test substance into a nasal cavity or an oral cavity of the experimental animal when the trigger signal T is outputted from the device 2.
DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE WITH ELECTRONICS
A device for delivering medication to a user may include a main body, an electronics module, and a slider. The main body may include a mouthpiece, a medication reservoir, and a mouthpiece cover, where the mouthpiece cover may be hinged to the main body. The electronics module may include a communication circuit, a pressure sensor, and a switch. The slider may be configured to engage the switch when the mouthpiece cover moves from a closed position to an open position. The switch may be configured to switch the electronics module from an off state or a sleep state to an active state. The electronics module may be configured to never return to the off state after the mouthpiece cover is moved to expose the mouthpiece for the first time by the user.
Powder dispersion apparatus, method of making and using the apparatus, and components that can be used on the apparatus and other devices
Methods and apparatuses for the pulmonary delivery of a composition, such as methods and apparatuses for dispersing dry powder medicaments for inhalation by a patient. Elements or aspects of the apparatuses, including receptacle puncturing, mechanisms, deoccluding devices, receptacle impacting devices, and receptacle lock devices or systems.
METHODS FOR MEASURING DOSE CONTENT UNIFORMITY PERFORMANCE OF INHALER AND NASAL DEVICES
The methods described herein provide improvements to the measurement of dose content uniformity of inhaler and nasal devices. The methods involve analyzing and measuring a spray pattern of an emitted spray from an inhaler or nasal device. The spray pattern may be used to determine the dose content uniformity of an inhaler or nasal device.
Devices and systems for air assisted dry powder administration
The multi-chambered well dosage form and device disclosed herein can be single or multi dose capable for administration of pharmaceuticals of a range of particle sizes. The present dosage devices and systems provide for improved efficiency and patient ease of use owing to its compact size and simple design, low cost, and consistent, contamination free dosing of dry powder medicaments or other agents. The present disclosure provides a multi-chambered dosage form containing dry powder medical composition containing chamber well with an internal piercing device and one or more adjacent gas-filled chamber wells to aid the dispense of the powder contents to the user and in certain embodiments, without the requirement of an external energy sources common with active devices known in the art. Said methods, systems and devices provide increased ejection fraction and hence greater efficiency of drug delivery above that as provided by current devices.
Dual chamber nebulizer apparatus
A dual chamber nebulizer apparatus for atomizing and administering a first and second liquid medicine includes a housing having first and second chambers for holding the first and second liquid medicines. An atomizer member is situated in the housing and configured to atomize liquid into vapor. An air flow member is coupled to the housing and in fluid communication with the atomizer, the flow member having an inlet port for receiving a compressed air flow to the atomizer member. First and second aspiration tubes are in communication with the atomizer member and extend into first and second chambers, respectively. The atomizer member includes a junction in communication with the first and second aspiration tubes, the valve selectively allowing both of the liquid medicines to be drawn through respective aspiration tubes and directed to the atomizer member when the compressed airflow is directed to the atomizer member.
