Provided is a Dry Powder Inhaler (DPI) arrangement comprising a DPI arranged in fluid communication with a spacer device (110) comprising a bag (112) and a body (118) including inlet (114) and opposed outlet (116), the inlet (114) and opposed outlet (116) being provided on, and integral with, the body (118). The body (118) and bag (112) combine to form chamber (120) for operatively receiving vaporised dry powder medication. The inlet (114) and outlet (116) each are in the form of a port that is in fluid flow communication with the chamber (120). The inlet (114) and outlet (116) define, and are separated by, a broad V-formation formed as part of the body (118). The body (118) further includes an elliptical lower perimeter (118.1) defining flange (118.2), for demountably receiving bag (112)

SPACER DEVICE FOR AN INHALER AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE THEREOF

A spacer device for an inhaler. The device may include a hollow tube. The device may also include a piston member configured to be inserted into the hollow tube such that a space between a first end of the hollow tube and the piston member may define a chamber for holding a mist released from the inhaler. The piston may be slidable along the hollow tube towards the first end of the hollow tube as the mist is aspirated from the chamber. The hollow tube and the piston member may cooperate to provide a visual indication of the progress of the aspiration of the mist from the chamber.

Compact Spacer for Metered Dose Inhaler

A spacer device for use with a metered dose inhaler (MDI). The spacer device comprises an aerosol chamber for holding the aerosolized medication sprayed from the MDI. According to one particular design, the aerosol chamber has a forward shell, a rear shell, and an extendable barrel in between. The extendable barrel comprises a flexible plastic sheath that is supported by a coiled wire spring. The spacer device further comprises a mounting bracket to hold the MDI. The mounting bracket holds the MDI such that the spray outlet of the MDI is mated with the aerosol chamber. Also, the assembly is configured such that the aerosol chamber is aligned substantially parallel to the actuator boot of the MDI. During use, the aerosol chamber is folded downward away from the MDI. The aerosol chamber is then extended outward to increase its volume.

A medication inhalation apparatus includes an outer housing, movable between collapsed and expanded states, encompassing a first volume. An inner housing within the outer housing encompasses an inner volume. An inhaler opening to the first volume is within a wall of the outer housing at a first location. A mouth opening to the inner volume is within a wall of the outer housing and the inner housing at a second location. A one-way inhalation valve connecting the first volume and the inner volume is within a wall of the inner housing. A one-way exhalation valve connecting the inner volume and the exterior of the outer housing is within a wall of the outer housing and inner housing at a third location. In the expanded state, gas flows from the inhaler to the first volume, the first volume to the inner volume, and the inner volume to a user's mouth.

Delivery System for Metered Dose Inhalers
20200261669 · 2020-08-20 · ·

An accessory device for delivering medications from attached press-and-breathe metered-dose inhalers (MDIs), including those medications containing hydrofluoroalkane propellants. The device includes a collapsible flexible bag to which is attached a bidirectional mouthpiece and an adaptor that receives the MDI. The mouthpiece contains a reed that functions as an audible signal. The adaptor positions the MDI at an angle to direct the aerosol spray toward the center of the bag. When triggered, the MDI discharges the aerosolized medication into the center of the bag, which medication may then be inhaled by the user through the mouthpiece. The user's inhalation causes the bag to collapse. The reed emits an audible sound if the user inhales above a pre-determined flow rate. A cap seals a gap between the adaptor and an attached canister, making the device in combination with the MDI into a closed-bag system.

Collapsible, disposable MDI spacer and method

A medication inhalation apparatus formed of a single, unitary sheet of stock, includes an outer housing, movable between collapsed and expanded states, encompassing a first volume. An inner barrier within the outer housing delineates a second volume. An inhaler opening to the first volume is within a sidewall of the outer housing at a first location. A mouth opening to the second volume is within a sidewall of the outer housing at a second location. A one-way inhalation valve connecting the first volume and the second volume is formed from a sidewall of the inner barrier. A one-way exhalation valve connecting the second volume and the exterior of the outer housing is formed from a sidewall of the outer housing and inner barrier at a third location. In the expanded state, gas flows from the inhaler to the first volume, the first volume to the second volume, and the second volume to a user's mouth.
