Paperbead for protecting drywall corners
10458122 · 2019-10-29 · ·

The present invention relates to drywall paperbeads, particularly drywall paperbeads for use in protecting exposed drywall surfaces having non-planar surface contours in an edge region adjacent the drywall edges. The paperbead includes an elongated core having an inner surface and an outer surface, an elongated paper strip having an inner surface and an outer surface, a thickness of between 6 and 7 mils, a weight of between 110 and 125 grams/square meter (gsm) and a porosity of 30 to 130 Gurley sec. The inner surface of the paper strip is roughened and bonded to the outer surface of the core. The outer portion of the thickness of the paper strip is impregnated with a strengthening compound, preferably a polymer strengthening compound, more preferably a latex strengthening compound in an amount of between 3.5% and 13% of the total weight of the paper strip. The width of the paper strip is greater than the width of the core such that at least one edge of the paper strip extends laterally beyond the edge of the core to form a wing on at least one edge of the paperbead. The wing of the paper strip of the paperbead follows the non-planar surface contour of the drywall in the edge region adjacent the drywall edge.

Described herein is a drywall apparatus including drywall liner. A first gypsum-containing segment is disposed on an internal side of the drywall liner, and a second gypsum-containing segment is disposed on the internal side of the drywall liner such that a groove exists between the first segment and the second segment. The drywall liner connects the first segment to the second segment such that the first segment and the second segment are capable of hinging about a hinge axis parallel to the groove.

Gripping cornerbead

A cornerbead for drywall construction according to one embodiment having an elongated strip bent at a substantially right angle to form an upper portion having an upper edge and a lower portion having a lower edge; and at least two triangular cut out projections along the upper edge and at least two triangular cut out projections along the lower edge.

Casing bead apparatus

A casing bead apparatus includes a base panel with at least one opening through the base panel. With the apparatus mounted at a vertical wall, the base panel is disposed along the vertical wall. A stop bead wall extends from the base panel. The stop bead wall includes a first side, a second side opposite the first side, and a flange at a distal end of the stop bead wall distal from the base panel and extending partially over the base panel. A spacing element is disposed at the second side of the stop bead wall. An adhesive element is disposed at the spacing element. With the apparatus mounted at the vertical wall, the adhesive element engages a horizontal surface perpendicular to the vertical wall to adhesively attach the apparatus at the horizontal surface and the spacing element is disposed between the stop bead wall and the horizontal surface.

CONSTRUCTION ELEMENTS

A construction element is provided for forming a corner of a surface of a building, the surface including wall panels attached to framing studs. The construction element includes: a comer-forming surface that that is shaped to extend, in a cross-sectional view, between two separate wall panels, such that ends of the comer-forming surface, as viewed in the cross-sectional view, substantially match respective corners of the wall panels; and a fastener strip that, in a state in which the comer-forming surface is in its installed position with respect to the framing studs, is substantially parallel to one or more of the framing studs, such that a fastener can attach the fastener strip to one or more of the studs without passing through the wall panel.

FIBER POLYMER TRIM
20190040632 · 2019-02-07 ·

A corner trim material that is made of a material that will bond with current industry mastics such as all purpose joint compounds, resists impact, resists abrasion, and readily accepts common coatings such as drywall mud, texture and paints. The surface of this material generally does not need to be covered by any secondary fiber based material such as paper to improve bonding or coating on the inside or outside. The material generally consists of a polymer mixed with a fibrous material like pulp or glass fiber. A corner trim piece can be directly extruded from the mix. The corner trim piece can have a center hinge, can be bullnose, and the flanges can optionally have holes or optionally be coated with adhesive.

A wall bead (100) is provided for application to adjoining surfaces, typically at a corner of a wall, during coating thereof tin with plaster or other render material. The wall bead comprises a central longitudinally extending portion (102) having first and second longitudinal edges; first and second planar panels (104, 106) extending from the first and second edges respectively; and first and second connection portions (108, 110) extending from the first and second panels respectively. The first and second connection portions each comprise a plurality of teeth (114) protruding therefrom. The first and second panels (104, 106) each comprise a flexible mesh such that they are arranged to conform to a contour of a wall surface. The wall bead is adapted to be flexible to suit the needs of varying shapes, angles and surface profiles of a wall, while having a simple and robust attachment mechanism.
