THERMAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR A DRIVE TRAIN

A method for thermal management of a power trowel executable by an on-board logic controller allows operation of the trowel in normal mode in which rotor speed is determined by manual control and in which a sensed temperature of the trowel lies below a high temperature setpoint. In response to the sensed temperature exceeding the high temperature setpoint, the controller switches operation of the power trowel from normal mode to thermal management mode in which a maximum rotor speed achievable by manual control is reduced by the controller in incremental steps to allow the trowel to cool. In response to the sensed temperature reaching a low temperature setpoint, the controller increases rotor speed in incremental steps, and returns operation to normal mode when a desired rotor speed is maintained for sufficient time during which the sensed temperature remains below the low temperature setpoint.

Concrete trowel

A concrete trowel is disclosed and includes a frame, a drive assembly including a motor mounted on the frame and a drive hub configured to receive torque from the motor, and a rotor rotatable about a rotational axis and including a plurality of blades. The concrete trowel further includes a quick-change coupling for selectively attaching the rotor and the drive hub for co-rotation therewith.

A mini-trowel attachment assembly having a rotary disk with a plurality of screw holes disposed therein with a plurality of replacement blades secured therein by a plurality of screw members. The plurality of replacement blades include at least a pair of elongated slots that allows the replacement blades to be adjusted slightly inward of an annular peripheral edge of the rotary disk. A free-wheeling self-lubricating bearing assembly having a first non-rotary bearing and spacer ring member attached to the rotary disk and a second free-wheeling member attached to the first non-rotary bearing and spacer ring member that freely rotates when it engages wall structures and upstanding obstructions in concrete surfaces. Also, the elongated slots allows the plurality of replacement blades to be adjusted slightly inward of an annular peripheral edge of the free-wheeling self-lubricating bearing assembly.

SAFETY SWITCH FOR A BATTERY PACK POWERED TROWEL

Systems and methods for controlling a power trowel. A power trowel includes a handle including a speed control input, a housing, a shaft connecting the handle and the housing, a safety mechanism located on the shaft, a blade assembly positioned below the housing, a motor located within the motor housing and coupled to the blade assembly, and a controller. The safety mechanism includes a safety lever configured to move in response to an uncontrolled condition of the power trowel. The controller is connected to the motor and the safety mechanism. The controller is configured to drive, in response to actuation of the speed control input, the motor, detect a movement of the safety lever from a first position to a second position, and perform, in response to the movement of the safety lever to the second position, a safety operation.

Grouting tiles and/or mosaics today even for large areas such as commercial environments, offices, shopping malls, etc. is achieved using professionals who work through the entire process on their hands and knees. It would be beneficial to provide building contractors, individuals, etc. with a machine to implement some or all of these steps thereby allowing a wider range of tiles and tile effects to be implemented. Equally a handheld unit may be employed by amateurs such as when decorating residential environments in order to improve the quality of their work and reduce the time taken. Such devices according to embodiments of the invention allowing use of smaller tiles, tiling mosaics, etc. without the costs of these visually effective and attractive designs being prohibitive.
