LADDER MOUNTED SECURING DEVICE FOR PREVENTING SLIPPAGE OF LADDER DURING USE
20230143839 · 2023-05-11 ·

A ladder securing device includes a housing that has a rotating interface configured to attach to a portion of a ladder. The housing is rotationally operable between an attaching position and a bypass position. A reel is disposed within the housing, and includes a strap that is selectively extendable to a plurality of extended positions. The reel biases the strap to a coiled position around a spool of the reel and within the housing. A retainer is attached to an end of the strap, and is configured to attach to one of the ladder and the housing in a securing position that secures the ladder to an adjacent support structure.

LADDERS, FOOT MECHANISMS FOR LADDERS, AND RELATED METHODS

Various embodiments of ladders, ladder legs, ladder feet, foot mechanisms for ladders, and related methods are provided herein. In one embodiment, a foot is pivotal relative to a leg or rail of the ladder between a first position and at least a second position. A biasing force is applied to the foot to maintain the foot in either of the user-selected positions until a force is applied to pivot the foot to another position. In one embodiment, the foot mechanism maintaining the foot at a desired position may include a pair of pins that couple the foot to another component (e.g., a housing member, an insert member or a rail of the ladder). At least one of the two pins may be displaceable relative to the other pin during pivoting of the foot.

An extension ladder includes sub-ladders and cushions. Each sub-ladder includes a rung s connected to two tubes. The tubes of each sub-ladder are telescopically connected to the tubes of an adjacent sub-ladder. Each cushion includes an air bag and a slow-release unit. The air bag includes an open end with a channel. The air bag of each cushion is inserted in a corresponding tube. The slow-release unit is operable to slowly release air from the air bag and includes a restraint and a membrane. The restraint is connected to the open end of the air bag. The membrane includes an aperture and is movable arranged between the restraint and the open end of the air bag, with the aperture in communication with the channel.

A system includes a clamp that includes a first arm, a second arm, and a threaded rod coupled to the first arm and the second arm. The threaded rod is configured to be substantially vertical when the clamp is clamped to the static structure. The clamp is configured to, while the user on a ground surface and in response to the nut being rotated about the threaded rod, a first jaw is urged towards a second jaw such that the static structure is clamped between the first jaw and the second jaw. The system further includes a first bracket configured to be releasably affixed to an upper portion of a first side rail of a base station of an extension ladder, and a second bracket that is configured to be releasably affixed to a lower portion of the first side rail of the base station of the extension ladder.

Step adaptor for transitioning between sections of an extension ladder

The problem of traversing the offset area between the fly section and the base section of an extension ladder is solved by a step adaptor of the subject invention. A step adaptor can have two or more steps which can be progressively narrower in depth. The step adaptor can be placed on the first available rung just below the fly section. The progressively narrower depth of the steps of a step adaptor create a transition zone in the offset area that reduces the abrupt change in distance between the rungs in the fly section and the rungs in the base section.

The assembly includes a first arcuate tube attached to a ladder. A second arcuate tube is slidably disposed in the first arcuate tube. A lock subassembly is disposed on the first arcuate tube for limiting movement of the second arcuate tube relative to the first arcuate tube. A step lever extends along the first arcuate tube and is coupled with the lock subassembly. A first flange and a second flange each extend radially from the first arcuate tube. An actuating member defines a cam surface abutting the second flange. A bar extends through the flanges and attaches to the actuating member. The step lever attaches to the actuating member to move the actuating member and cause the cam surface to slightly deform the first arcuate tube about the second arcuate tube and engage the second arcuate tube. A foot is pivotably disposed at each end of the second arcuate tube.
