CABLE-BASED HEATER AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLY
20190242200 · 2019-08-08 · ·

A cable-based heater for providing underground heat and a method of assembly of the cable-based heater are provided. The heater includes a length of coiled tubing having a sealed down-hole end and an open-ended cable support adapter attached to the up-hole end of the coiled tubing. One or more conducting cables are contained within the coiled tubing and a wedging tube is placed in the open end of the adapter for supporting the weight of the one or more cables against the interior sidewall of the adapter when the heater is deployed underground. The wedging tube has an inner surface shaped to conform to the outer shape of the one or more cables and an outer sidewall configured for weight bearing frictional contact with the interior sidewall of the cable support adapter.

DISCONNECTABLE PRESSURE-PRESERVING ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND METHOD OF INSTALLATION
20190218878 · 2019-07-18 ·

The present disclosure provides a dis-connectable wellhead hanger arrangement permitting a pig tail set of electrical conductors to be inserted within the wellhead hanger arrangement which seals against the wellhead hanger upon separation of an electrical power cable; or alternatively, through an exterior pressure-preserving housing. If the power cable separates from the production tubing for any reason, the compressively fit plugs disconnect the power cable from the pathway leaving the electrical mandrel sealed within the wellhead hanger or housing, thereby sealing the wellhead hanger from loss of fluid after separation.

Tubing Hanger Assembly With Wellbore Access, and Method of Supplying Power to a Wellbore
20190203554 · 2019-07-04 · ·

A tubing hanger assembly for suspending a tubing string within a wellbore. The tubing hanger assembly comprises a tubing head and a tubing hanger. The tubing hanger lands within the tubing head to gravitationally support a string of production tubing. The tubing hanger includes an auxiliary port extending from the upper end to the lower end. The auxiliary port receives unsheathed conductive wires from a power cable. To secure the conductive wires within the auxiliary port and to prevent shorting, the conductive wires are placed within a unique disc stack. The tubing hanger assembly further includes a bottom plate residing along the lower end of the tubular body and securing the disc stack. Thus, the tubing hanger assembly is arranged to receive a continuous power cable from a power source into the wellbore, through the auxiliary port, without the conductive wires being spliced.

PENETRATOR SYSTEM FOR ELECTRICAL SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS

The present disclosure relates to a wellhead penetrator system comprising a penetrator body comprising a hollowed cylindrical frame connecting a top end to a bottom end; a cable seal located within the penetrator body, comprising: a cylindrical core made of a polymer having three cylinder-shaped port holes configured to each provide a path for of the three insulated electrical wires; a top side, wherein the port holes extend upward from the top side of the cable seal; and a bottom side facing into the cavity located in the bottom end of the penetrator body, wherein the port holes extend downward from the bottom side of the cable seal; and a follower comprising a cylindrical metal body and cylindrical holes, wherein the follower seats against the bottom side of the cable seal so that port holes of the cable seal protrude through the cylindrical holes of the follower.

Tubing Hanger Alignment Device

Systems and methods for landing a tubing hanger in a wellhead and then orienting a tree (or spool, or flowline connection body) relative to the tubing hanger while landing the tree on the wellhead are provided. This alignment is accomplished without the use of either a tubing spool or a BOP stack with an orientation pin. The tubing hanger alignment devices may be used to orientate the tree as the tree is landed so that the couplings and stabs between the tree and the tubing hanger line up with each other just at the moment of landing.

Subsea Equipment Alignment Device

Systems and methods for coupling subsea tubular members together are provided. An apparatus may be used to properly orient and/or provide communication between a first subsea tubular member that is being landed on a second subsea tubular member. An apparatus for coupling subsea tubular members may include an alignment sub and a corresponding alignment member. The alignment sub includes: a generally cylindrical body having one or more fluid, electric, or fiber optic lines extending therethrough, one or more couplings coupled to at least one end of the alignment sub, and an orientation profile disposed on a surface of the alignment sub. The alignment member has a profile designed to interface with the orientation profile of the alignment sub. One of the alignment sub and the alignment member remains stationary while the other rotates relative to the stationary structure.

Wellhead electrical feed-thru penetrator sealing, breakaway apparatus and method of installation

An improved wellhead electrical connection assembly utilizing upper and lower retention mechanisms to minimize pressure and fluid leakage in the event of a tubing part or other failure. The upper retention mechanism ensures the connection assembly remains within a tubing hanger. The lower retention mechanism provides a secure connection to a downhole cable that can breakaway without damaging or dislodging other components of the assembly during an emergency event.

Cable support system and method

A method is described for supporting a bundle of cables in a well or in a length of coiled tubing deployed in a vertical or deviated well during a process for assembly of a well heater which includes steps of injecting the cables from respective spools into the coiled tubing. The method includes the steps of: attaching an open-ended cable support adapter to the up-hole end of the coiled tubing, attaching a cable bundle clamp to the bundle of cables above the cable support adapter; cutting the cables from their respective spools above the cable bundle clamp; clamping a wedging tube carrier to the cable bundle above the cable bundle clamp; raising the cable bundle; removing the cable bundle clamp from the cable bundle; lowering the cables to insert the wedging tube into the adapter; and removing the wedging tube carrier from the bundle of cables.
