Seal for a well

A pressure energised seal for a wellhead, in particular, provides a seal of an annulus between an inner wellhead casing member and an outer wellhead casing member. The wellhead incorporates a clamping arrangement whereby the outer member is arranged to be deflected radially inwardly in order to grip and secure the inner member within the bore of the outer member. Also, a seal for use in such a clamping arrangement. In particular, the seal includes a sealing lip which locates within a groove provided in the outer clamping surface of the inner member. A seal is activated and created as the outer member is clamped inwardly since this causes the outer member to compress the inner member and to reduce the diameter of the inner member. Also, a well and a method of sealing an annulus in a well.

SINGLE RUN PRELOADED CASING HANGER AND ANNULUS SEAL ASSEMBLY AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF

A running tool having an annulus seal assembly and casing hanger attached thereto may be sent into to the wellhead to lock and preload the casing hanger in a single trip. The running tool may be rotated a first time to drop the annulus seal assembly on the casing hanger, a first pressure may be applied axially above the annulus seal assembly to set the annulus seal assembly, the running tool may be rotated a second time to close a gap between the annulus seal assembly and the wellhead, and a second pressure may be applied axially above the annulus seal assembly to preload the casing hanger.

Casing hanger actuated load shoulder

A wellhead system includes a first position casing hanger and a second position casing hanger, arranged within a wellbore. The second position casing hanger is positioned axially higher and stacked on the first position casing hanger, and a weight of the second position casing hanger is supported, at least in part but less than entirely, by the first position casing hanger and, at least in part but less than entirely, by an actuated load shoulder transferring the force into a high pressure housing. The actuated load shoulder includes a load ring having a hanger side profile and a housing side profile, the load ring is adapted to engage a hanger profile formed in the second position casing hanger and a housing profile formed in the high pressure housing upon activation via the first position casing hanger.

An isolation sleeve for a wellbore includes a sleeve body and a torque sleeve. The torque sleeve threadedly couples to the sleeve body. The torque sleeve includes a compression shoulder. The isolation sleeve includes a compression seal positioned about the torque sleeve between the compression shoulder and the sleeve body. The isolation sleeve also includes a lock ring coupled to the sleeve body that engages a packoff. The lock ring is urged into engagement with the packoff by an energizing ring.

A method for sealing a wellhead assembly having a first outer tubular member, a second outer tubular member mounted on the first outer tubular member and an inner tubular member landed in the first outer tubular member. The method includes: providing a packoff assembly having a lower packoff which is releasably connected to an upper packoff releasably connecting an installation tool to the upper packoff; positioning the lower packoff between the inner tubular member and the first outer tubular member and the upper packoff between the inner tubular member and the second outer tubular member; locking the lower packoff to the first outer tubular member; disconnecting the installation tool from the upper packoff; removing the second outer tubular member from the first outer tubular member; removing the upper packoff from the lower packoff; and mounting a third outer tubular member on the first outer tubular member.

A system formed to provide sealed passage through the wellhead for cables, lines, tubes or the like for down-hole applications. A unitary or split/wrap around hanger, packer or other apparatus having a main seal is formed to receive and provide sealed passage through of power and control cables, lines, conduits, or other threaded components having various configurations and applications. Also taught is a bowl cap, tubing adapter or other surface component with adapters to allow sealed pass-through utilizing a compression seal. Also provided is a tubing encapsulated wire for pass-through for power cables or the like as well as a compression fitting with right angle connector for providing a seal at the tubing adapter or the like, as well as a two-piece interlocking F.A.N. cover plate utilizing insertable inner plates to provide various cable penetration and other passage layouts, pressure ratings, and other specifications.

Slip sealing structure

A slip sealing structure comprises a cylindrical sealing body comprising an upper and a lower end surfaces, wherein an outer side and an inner side of at least one end surface of the sealing body are provided with an outer metal retaining ring and an inner metal retaining ring respectively, a fabric covering layer is disposed on the at least one end surface, and the outer and inner metal retaining rings are respectively pressed against an outer and inner edges of the fabric covering layer such that the fabric covering layer provides support for the outer and inner metal retaining rings. Through the outer and inner metal retaining rings, compression resistance of the slip sealing structure can be improved, and rubber extrusion at high temperatures and high pressures can be avoided; the fabric covering layer enhances performances of compression resistance and gas explosion resistance of the slip sealing structure.

A system for rigid locking of components in a wellhead assembly is also disclosed. The system includes a wellhead housing, a hanger, a lockdown ring, and an actuating member. The lockdown ring has a first lockdown ring surface with lockdown ring stepped tapers. The actuating member has a first actuating member surface with actuating member stepped tapers that correspond to the lockdown ring stepped tapers. The lockdown ring stepped tapers and the actuator ring stepped tapers are configured to mate when positioned between the wellhead housing and the hanger.
