CASING HANGER ACTUATED LOAD SHOULDER

A wellhead system includes a first position casing hanger and a second position casing hanger, arranged within a wellbore. The second position casing hanger is positioned axially higher and stacked on the first position casing hanger, and a weight of the second position casing hanger is supported, at least in part but less than entirely, by the first position casing hanger and, at least in part but less than entirely, by an actuated load shoulder transferring the force into a high pressure housing. The actuated load shoulder includes a load ring having a hanger side profile and a housing side profile, the load ring is adapted to engage a hanger profile formed in the second position casing hanger and a housing profile formed in the high pressure housing upon activation via the first position casing hanger.

Wellhead seal with pressure energizing from below

An annular seal for sealing an interface between a wellhead housing and a casing hanger. The annular seal includes a central body portion and a first pair of seal legs extending in a first direction from the central body portion. Each of the first pair of seal legs sealingly engages one of the wellhead housing or the casing hanger, and are further energized by bore pressure. The annular seal also includes a second pair of seal legs extending in a second direction from the central body portion. Each of the second pair of seal legs sealingly engages one of the wellhead housing or the casing hanger, and is further energized by annulus pressure.

Components of the tool include a load member, one or slip members, one or more compression members, and a sealing element between the compression members mounted on a mandrel. A slip sealing structure comprises a cylindrical sealing body comprising an upper and a lower end surfaces, wherein an outer side and an inner side of at least one end surface of the sealing body are provided with an outer metal retaining ring and an inner metal retaining ring respectively, a fabric covering layer is disposed on the at least one end surface, and the outer and inner metal retaining rings are respectively pressed against an outer and inner edges of the fabric covering layer such that the fabric covering layer provides support for the outer and inner metal retaining rings. Through the outer and inner metal retaining rings, compression resistance of the slip sealing structure can be improved, and rubber extrusion at high temperatures and high pressures can be avoided; the fabric covering layer enhances performances of compression resistance and gas explosion resistance of the slip sealing structure.

An emergency casing slip hanger assembly that is adapted to be installed in a wellhead through a blowout preventer includes a slip bowl that is adapted to be releasably coupled to and supported by a slip bowl protector during installation of the slip hanger assembly in the wellhead through a blowout preventer, the slip bowl being further adapted to be positioned around a casing in the wellhead and landed on a support shoulder of the wellhead. A plurality of slips are adapted to engage with and support the casing, and a plurality of first shear pins releasably couple the plurality of slips to the slip bowl, wherein the plurality of first shear pins are adapted to be sheared by a pressure thrust load that is imposed on the slip bowl protector so as to drop the plurality of slips into contact with an outside surface of the casing.

System and method for forming metal-to-metal seal

A technique facilitates actuation and use of a liner hanger in a wide variety of environments. Depending on the application, the liner hanger may be conveyed downhole within a casing located in a wellbore. The liner hanger comprises slips which may be set against the casing by applying a pressurized fluid through a liner hanger port to a liner hanger actuator. After the slips are set, the liner hanger may be actuated to form a metal-to-metal seal which blocks further fluid flow through the port, thus isolating the port during subsequent downhole operations.

Tubing hanger system, and method of tensioning production tubing in a wellbore

A tubing hanger system for suspending a tubing string within a wellbore is provided. The system is designed to place the tubing string in tension. The tubing hanger system comprises a tubing hanger and a tubing anchor. Both the tubing hanger and the tubing anchor are designed to reside in series with the production tubing. The tubing hanger is threadedly connected to the tubing string at the top of the wellbore. The tubing anchor is also threadedly connected to the tubing string but is configured to be set within a string of casing downhole. Beneficially, the tubing hanger and the tubing anchor is each uniquely configured to be set through a rotation of the tubing string that is less than one full rotation. This enables use of a stainless steel chemical injection line extending from the tubing hanger to the tubing anchor. A method for hanging a string of production tubing in a wellbore, in tension, is also provided herein.
